i grunt a little when i hit a golf ball, especially when im teeing off, i tend to hold my breath during my swing and then exhale when i hit the ball and i make a grunt, not on purpose though, but just when all the air comes out of my lungs.

No what Iím asking is People have reasons why players grunt, exhale, whatever, so why donít all players do the same if itís natural, like some say.

i really never grunt unless im trying to hit a really difficult shot on the run...

i've tried grunting a few times in the middle of a rally with no real reason to put an extra 'ooomf' into my shot. i netted the shot thinking about how my grunt should sound, lol. it's just not for me.

I'm the same when I play. If I try grunting or noise making,I just end up distracting myself.I do like others normally make noise when over exerted.

All players grunt - some just do it quietly. However, not all players scream a'la Sharapova/Serena etc.

all players grunt
some just grunt louder than others
it can be as quiet as just exhaling rapidly as you're exerting the force, or a loud scream.

Speaking strictly bio-mechanically, vocalizing an exhale during a sudden physical movement makes your body relax, which makes the whole movement more efficient.

I have an acute sense of hearing, the nurse told me this when I went in for my treatment. If all the players grunt then why did Nathalie Tauziat complain about Monica?
