4 Asian nations in Wolrd groupII !

fed cup result..
Japan def Bulgaria 4-1
China def Slovenia 4-1
Thailand def Slovak Rep. 4-1
Indonesia def Puerto Rico 4-1

Interesting!!
Do these results show something about the higher standard of Asian tennis?

The other 4 teams in WG II is Switzerland, Croatia,Czech rep. and Argentina..
I'm pretty sure that it's not so hard to see some of Asian teams could crack in World GroupI next year..

It is very impressive to see so many countries from Asia, such a new good players.

I believe Croatia, Czech Rep, and Argentina will win the ties anyway. Depends on the draws. Japan and China has chances too.

IMO, as Indonesian/Asian...these results do not really show higher standard of Asian tennis yet...For Indonesia, we are very very very behind in tennis development due too many politickings in our National Tennis Federation...it is very sad indeed...Yes, we have some talented and good players but just a few...If Indonesia can have 5 players in top 300s then I will be proud of Indonesian tennis...

From juniors rebuilding Indonesia's tennis!!!

I think Australia will be happy that they won't have to face any of these countries in the regional qualifyings next year...

Yeah, It was too bad, I expected Puerto Rico to defeat Indonesia easily. But I am pretty sure they will return to World Group II next year.

Go Asia !! Rock the tennis world !

You are and will always be the greatest ever!! We miss you Monica!
Ferrero get back to the top soon where you belong!!!
Grand old man of Tennis Andre Agassi - All-time most adored & well-loved & respected player ~ we'll miss you
I look at people like Andre Agassi and Monica Seles, and of course what they did. I was always amazed at how Monica came back after so long and did so well. I try to keep that as an inspiration. He who doubts loses. (Serena Williams)

Widjaja was preparing to comeback for the US Open series this summer after the long knee injury. After a few weeks of training, she felt more pain on her knee, and unfortunately she had to have another surgery. the operation went well, but she would need to postponed her comeback even longer!!!

Let's just wish she recovers from the surgery and stays healthy!

We miss you Angie!!

Maju terus Tenis Indonesia!

I think CHINA is only higher standard team!

if Thailand will play on clay... something like 0-5 for sure!
but if Thailand vs Indonesia, it would be a interesting match!!!

I'm not sure if China is ready for WG2. I have a feeling Japan will stay and China will get relegated again.

If Japan has Ai Sugiyama, Shinobu Asagoe, Akiko Morigami (Who is incredible in Fed Cup) and either Rika Fujiwara in doubles or Saori Obata and Aiko Nakamura....Japan will be as formittable as as any other team in WG II. If the best Japanese team shows up, they should get through to WG I without much problem, so much depth now. GO Japan!

China is also a big threat, I expect they'll get through! Thailand could get through with a good draw but Indonesia NEEDS Angelique Widjaja to advance any further...

GO Asia!

Go Ai, Venus, Na, Tamarine!
