do you think it was really that good a match????....both players struggled with nerves...and lindsay became so injured she couldnt run in the third set......i think venus surprised herself with her win....like it wasnt vintage venus of years ago thats for sure.....apart from sharapova theres no others coming through.....

What are you saying? Did you watch the match?

Lindsay couldn't run in the third? She couldn't run in the first and second, then? The back hurt her for like two or three points. Other than that, the best rallies came AFTER she was injured.

Two- these tough, long, Wimbledon finals between two American greats can never hurt the WTA. People that aren't interested in tennis heard something about this match and that is gaining the tour good publicity.

Let them eat cake.

"Vintage Venus" made an appearance though here and there in that final when she needed to , i.e - THAT cool as a cucumber shot Vee played to save the mp against her and that game in the second set where she broke Lindsay when she was serving for the match I agree that this match was just the tonic that the wta needed with two veterans ( yes Vee can almost certainly be called a vet these days at the ripe old age of 25 ) battling it out again like the good old days. Actually this year has been very healthy for the tour with the rise of the veterans dominating the grand slams again.

that sounds very suspicious.....but thats true that lindsay cant really run that well to begin with......dont mean becuase the match was long it was a good match....it was error strwen...both players could barely serve at times...people that arent interested in tennis...arent interested in watching lindasy and venus.....sadly

Yeah it wasn't that great of a match the 98 final between Tauziat and Novotna was miles better. :retard:

"Hatred is the coward's revenge for being intimidated" - George Bernard Shaw

"And for the best of the teen-agers who followed her, and who occasionally referred to her as over the hill, Graf had a ready answer: against top-ranked Martina Hingis, Graf wound up 7-2. Graf's stirring 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 throttling of Hingis at the French Open final this June was perhaps the most emphatic parting shot the game has ever seen. "

Obviously a person who wasn't
watching the match.

Anything to try and slight
the woman's game and two
amazingly talented players.

Also, a person obvious bitterness that
Maria wasn't in the final.

Goodness, these trolls popping
up all over the place.

what is decent tennis to you if winning the biggest tournament in the world is not one of them?
