Tennis and Mixed Doubles :o

I just came home from playing an Intercounty Tennis match for my club (in Toronto). I've played men's doubles the past few weeks, and when I was given the opportunity to play mixed I was really excited. So this week was my first (and likely last) match of mixed.

We go on court, and I'm already confused with whether I should be warming up with the man or the woman. I warm up with the man, and then we practise serves, again thinking do I return/serve to the man or woman. Once we got past that ordeal, we finally play the match. The man is hitting some pretty powerpuff serves that I really want to punish him for- but who's at the net, the dainty, innocent woman. I hit it to her (not hard, not gentle- but with some pace), and she then punishes me for not hitting it well. So then I try lobbing, it's a better shot that I have in my repertoire, and whenever it's short, she punishes me again. So I'm lost, thinking I really want to smack the ball at her, like I would in men's doubles, but I don't want to be that ass hole junior that they don't want back. Anyway, we lost that match 6-2 4-6 3-6, but I admit it allows me to play far more defensive than in men's doubles- but you have to be careful.

Does anyone else ever have trouble playing mixed- ESPECIALLY if you are guy (I hate to sound sexist, though usually the man can hit harder, and is the stronger member of the team, like tonite). Any tips on not looking like a complete ass? And what do they do in the pros with mixed?

Personally, I think that when I play a mixed doubles match I expect the male player to hit the ball hard and try to overpower me. I don't think people will think too badly about you attacking the female player.

depends what level you're playing, if you're at a high level imo it's acceptable to do anything you do on the mens doubles court, still feel bad if you nail the chick at net though.

Go the aussies! stosur!!!
and good luck russians: dementieva, safina, kirilenko, sharapova, kuznetsova, bovina, zvonareva, dushevina.

also good luck to: azarenka, lucic, sprem, vakulenko, vaidisova, safarova, ivanovic, groenefeld, mirza, krajicek, kvitkova, larcher de brito, lisicki.
