I've seen LD's serve go off. I've never really seen her groundies breakdown, though.

Lindsay plays really clean with powerful groundstrokes and that's why she is so good. She's been able to combine power with consistancy something most power players don't do.

Her consistency comes from timing and technique. The key is finding a contact point, usually in front of the body between the knees and hips, and hitting the ball in that location everytime.

I noticed after she came back from an injury in 2002 she wasn't hitting the ball as hard as she used to. She's hitting with more topspin. Recently I've also noticed she isn't driving the ball like she used to. She's abbreviated her follow through, finishing over her head instead of over the left shoulder.

I remember when she was having the foot problem in 03 she was playing Maria-Elena Camerin in the second round of the US Open. It was the feature night match. She mishit a few balls and got very frustrated from it. Tracy Austin then said something like ,Lindsay has such sound strokes that rarely get out of rhythm so it is hard for her to be framing this many balls and miss by that much. Think about it guys....when was the last time you saw Lindsay miss a groundie by more thatn 2 feet? It's RARE...unlike the forehands of Venus, Kim, Serena, Jen, or some of the Russians. So essentially, if Lindsay is on the offensive and not being pushed back she RARELY mishits shots. So yes, I would say her game is the least likely to go off.

During the Wimbledon final Mary I think said that Lindsay forehand use to go off on her once in awhile.

Lindsay's game goes off when she gives up running after the balls and that is a part of her game that, even though it's not the strongest, she desperately needs to stay on top of the game.

Justine's game goes away sometimes too. Which is why we Justine fans get close to heart attacks when we watch her early round matches in GSes

Yeh I agree...Lindsay is never a player who u will see spraying balls 10 ft out into the stands like some players on an off day...

The only thing that Elena D ever loses is the serve, the groundies have always been rock solid when I've watched her.

How do you mean "off"?
She is still very consistent and playing as good as ever but she is approaching that time where she might fall off anytime due to wear and tear. Of course she has to keep focused to not let that happen which I think she knows.

Oh that is so not true. She is Ms. inconsistency. Yes her groundies are spectacular when they are on, but they do go off. See her match w/ Dulko in Toronto last year. See her match w/ Bovina. See lots of others...

Davenport's strokes are just spectacular. Jennifer's are too, but Jen doesn't like to hit through the ball for whatever reason...

I would say Sharapova is very consistent too the double bagel aside. But then, Maria's strokes are similar to Lindsays.

She has really good technique, so therefore, she is probably very unlikely to go off her game and become streaky.
