Question Does USA Stand A Chance Against Russia

I don't think Mashona or Jill can beat either Myskina or Dementieva so the US needs to hope that Venus wins both matches and that they can win the deciding doubles. On indoor clay court in front of a Moscow crowd I think the US is facing an uphill battle. Might as well pencil in Russia in the finals against France again.

I think it'll probably be up to the doubles in which case, Russia would win since they have the better doubles players.

I am confident that Venus can win both singles matches, if she's not exhausted both mentally & physically. Elena D & Anastasia have been very up & down this year. They could play great & crush the USA's #2 singles or they could show up completely off their game & lose one. In doubles, I guess it will be Venus & Morariu?? Both are good doubles players, but I don't know how well they'll do 2gether....I think it might come down to that match....

The US has a chance but if Venus loses one of her matches I don't see them having much of a chance at winning.

A chance? Yes. A GOOD chance? No.

In Fed Cup, the whole Nationalism thing comes into play. On top of that, Russia will have two top tenners playing singles, and an experienced doubles team. The USA could easily lose 4-1.

Not blind. Not uninformed. We are party to atrocities. But the response of the world after 9/11 is worth noting. Even our most dire enemies offered aid. We should all be so lucky.

USA VS russia LIVE ON THE TENNIS CHANNEL 6AM UNTIL

Thank you no ESPN crappy coverage

"I told her, `You don't want to get into a hitting battle with Sharapova, because it would be uneven for Sharapova, because Sharapova only has one good side and that's her backhand,"'. "`You don't want to get into that for the simple reason you would win. So try to hit some balls to her strong side, to her backhand, and that would help you with your match for tomorrow

Ah, some people,
honestly!

If you step out on to a court
and play you always have a chance!

Venus & crew will be leaving some
folks with egg on their faces.

if lindsay was playing i would rephrase it to 'does Russia have a chance'.

now.... i dunno! Corinas used to working with lindsay for dubs, so has to get used to someone else.

LINDSAY DAVENPORT!
Say what you like about Davenport, but shes achieved what most others could only dream of!

Jelena Jankovic
Mary Pierce MARTINA HINGIS! Kim Clijsters Ana Ivanovic

Well, Venus should get the 2 singles victories, so they can probably make it 2-2 and have doubles be the decisive match. That's where US could lose it. The russians are used to playing with each other.
