What Does This Picture Tell You About Venus' Forehand?

I didn't know her grip was so Western , but otherwise it looks okay since she hits an open-stance forehand anyways. Notice how her eyes are on the ball, too.

Did she win that point?? Sometimes during the match it was all over the place , and other times it proved deadly

It's all about whether she follows through or pulls up. If she keeps her head down, eyes on the ball, and follows through, it's fine. It's western but it's also compact and she doens't have that big of a backswing. So if she does everything else right, it's great. If not though, she gets screwed by it.

so thats a western grip...i think mine's similar maybe a bit less western like semi-western

i think its just normal in today's game to hit like that.

eastern and continental grips went out of the women''s game when the serve/volley and slice backhands became outdated
