R.Williams story from another board...

A True Story from Wimbledon by mcfan

07-01-2005, 6:18 PM

"While at Wimbledon last week, I was amazed at the mass crowding and the lack of room to accommodate such crowds. I headed to court 14 to watch Vera Zvonareva's 2nd rd. match, but due to overcrowing, and high barrier walls preventing views from the walkway, I waited patiently, behind 15 other people, at one of the narrow entrances, for about 20 minutes, when Richard Williams strolled up with an usher, cut in front of the line, and had the audacity to ask a few people to get up and let Mr. Williams and his companion have their seats!!!!!!!!! The seated people were obviously taken aback, and took so long to gather up their stuff that Williams looked at the usher and said, "never mind, we'll go up to that private balcony over there." Everyone in the immediate area was appalled at his attempt to bump out people who paid good pounds to be there. The balls of that guy!!!!!!!!
It's no mystery why the Williams' are so hated by so many.

Just like the responses I got regarding my post last year about the ugly , rowdy Guga fans who urinated in the seats and isles at the Nasdaq 100, calling me racist, some of you will no doubt interpret this post as racist, but, just like story at Nasdaq in Miami, this was a true story!"

---------------

All I can say is that this guy/girl has obviously never been to the US Open...

I wouldn't take this as racist, but at the same time- chances are this would have happened with any well known person. It's not really fair to say that this is why the Williams are so hated. The ugly truth is that celebs get advantages that we don't...and it isn't just Williams and camp. They get free stuff, better seats, no waiting, etc. It's not fair and I can understand the frustration, but it's the way it goes. So many people (like the usher) get star struck and assume that they deserve this treatment. Had I paid my money, they would have had to force me to get up out of my seat. Of course, that is just my personal opinion.

I have CDO. It's like Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, except in alphabetical order like it should be.

One person's account/interpretation of a so called incident, does not make it true or accurate. How do you know??? Were you there??? Did you witness it??? As much as the sisters are hated, everything written concerning them is circumspect.Don't feed off other people's stories...hearsay is just what it is.

Why would Richard and his companion want seats there when he had a private balcony to go to?

Even if that did happen, it happens all the time at tournaments I do. People with guest passes, media passes, blah, get to bump other people out of their seats. Those are the ropes.

Perhaps if the poster above had raised two world number ones, who had won the tournament four (now five!!) times between them, then they would have been allowed to jump the queue!

Yep! Shame on Richard.

You know...I guess some people believe everything they read.
Anyway, I heard it differently. As I remember it...

A friend of a cousin who used to be my Aunts gardener told me that Richard actually paid for the entire row, and that those people had his seats. So there! TRUE STORY!

So you would have prefered it that Richard waited at your back, while maybe his charges need him urgently and because you are who?
You accompanied 2 champions to wimbledon as a coach?
Err, blame your purse, if you had bought one of the vip tickets, you wont have been standing there and stop making Richard responsible for your retchedness.
Do you know that the cost of a vip ticket is equal to 40 of your likes, go figure
