Mary Pierce....Hall of Fame?

I know there was a discussion a while ago (maybe a year or more, it's hard to remember exactly) about which current players would or would not make the Hall of Fame, and there were a few hotly contested people like Conchita and Mary. With Mary's recent good play she has reached another slam-final, equaled her best result at Wimbledon, and picked up a fourth GS title...and she isn't showing any signs of slowing down just yet, so another slam final/title is not out of the question, especially if she plays mixed/doubles at slams. So is there anyone out there who thinks she still hasn't secured a spot in the Hall of Fame?

I could definitely see her as a deserving inductee in the future Who get's in this year? Is is Novotna? She had 1 GS I think....but several doubles... Pierce should definitely get in though. I think she should go in b4 Martinez.

Pierce I think is a sure-bet. Being the first French Woman in like thirty years to win her home slam, reaching four major finals and winning two, she's in for sure. Plus, she's got longevity and people know that she has overcome a lot to be competing still this late in her career.

Good Luck Justine Henin Hardenne, Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova, Mary Pierce, and any of my other favorites that I might have forgotten about at this moment.

Definatly. Winning 2 slams and making 5 finals in total her long gevity and top ten for 6 years and top 20 for 10 at the end of this year. top 5 three year and highest ranking of three plus winning a title on every surface.

I don't think she should. She went way too many years since her French title until this year without doing much of anything. How can someone be in the HOF and do nothing in majors for 4 years in what should still be prime years of her career? Players in the hall need to have some form of consistency along with the slam titles. All she really has are those slam titles...not enough tour titles IMO. She's had a great career but she doesn't belong with the best of her era. Novotna was greatly helped by her doubles....Sabatini is more deserving than either one though.

She has definitely already done enough. (There are several one-Slam winners in there). Mary's won two in Singles, and been Slam finalist three further times (including once unseeded.) She's now won Slams in both Doubles and Mixed too (I think only Venus and Serena have done that out of today's players, unless I'm inexplicably forgetting someone..) She's also finished in the Top Ten on six occasions, and will hopefully make that seven this year, and her achievements would have undoubtedly been greater but for career-threatening injuries in the prime of her career. Added to this Fed Cup-winning appearances, as well as well-documented family problems in early career plus kudos for glamour, personal appearance, popularity and style, and Mary's a sure bet indeed.

try because for 2 years with suffered a debilitating back injury that made it almost impossible for her to walk let alone play tennis. this led to a complete loss of condition making her comeback very difficult and also causing further injuries that have made it impossible for her to play at her peak.

it is an absolute credit to her that after all this she has been able to come back at play at the elite standard she currently is and it should only benefit her chances of making the hall of fame IMO.

She was injured, did u not know that? If anything, it's a testament that she is back playing amazing tennis again after suffering injury after injury. I mean, I remember back in 2000, she had won the French, and she said she felt she was playing the best tennis of her life and really felt like she had a shot at number 1. Then what happened? The shoulder injury, that stupid injury that kicked her out the entire summer, she tried to come back at the open but just wasn't the same and couldn't serve anywhere near as well, and really struggled for the next four years. She deserves to be in the hall of fame.

Mary is in. Yannick gets in this year with one GS title. A historically interesting one, but still one.

Mary is so in.
