Vee vs. Lindz: 25 Shot Rally- Match Point?

I noticed after that Rally was won by Venus, both ladies were out of it, Hard, Deep, Punishing balls from both. Venus Up'ed 30 all, Davenport wins it...15-40 2MP's. Was that the Match Turner?

I just watched the match and can't believe I can't remember exactly when that point was. I know it was the 14th game but if you're correct and it would have given Lindsay two match points I'd guess you'd have to say that point was decisive.

Great point and a sensatonal match. I salute both Lindsay and Venus. They're both winners in my book.

That point was actually at 6-7(lindz) On Serve. If Lindsay win that point 2 mp's for her, Venus wins it 30all. Vee won it, and took the game no problem, then Breaks Lindz immediately following. I think that was the turner.

That was definately the turning point of the match. Lindsay looked so frustrated because she was hitting so well and chasing shots after shots and then Vee's forehand came through out of nowhere.

I know it has been said over and over again, but both players definately deserve the title.

See, Venus doesn't succumb under pressure, that backhand winner to save match point was very brave. I liked how Lindsay didn't give up until the end, kept on hitting winners and saving break points, it made the victory for Venus even better

i liked lindsay's reply to the question about that rally...he commented that she was stooped over getting her breath back...vee was at the back of the court resting....he asked about her being knackerd or somert and she said 'no....i was comfortable and didnt want to move' or something to the effect lol....great winner by vee though...i think we will be talking about this match right thru to the us open

Yeah, he ask Lindz if her back started hurting at that moment. Lindz said, regarding that 25 shot rally, I looked up and Venus wasnt ready to serve she was at the back of the court resting, and I bent over and got Comfortable, LOLOLOL!

Lindz is funny.

It was amazing how Venus' forehand held up throughout the match and that rally was proof positive. Lindsay kept picking on it but Venus just kept getting balls back time after time. Vee hit some amazing forehands and finished it off with, what else, a forehand winner. All you can do is bow.

Yes, it was match point. After that point, Lindsay bowed her head and was looking at the grass. I'm sure she was thinking "help me, help me".

I've watched the match about four times already " THANK U DVR" and that was definately the turning point of the match. Davenport won the point it would have been two match points but Venus just kept going and going. Awsome match and I felt sorry for Davenport at the end but the person who wanted it more won because she "davenport" served for the match in the 2nd set and got broken.. then had match point on Venus serve and lost it.. then went ahead 4-2 40-15 in the 3rd set with a point to go 5-2 3rd set and she did not convert.

Hey Venus deserved this win because she really did fought for it..

"I told her, `You don't want to get into a hitting battle with Sharapova, because it would be uneven for Sharapova, because Sharapova only has one good side and that's her backhand,"'. "`You don't want to get into that for the simple reason you would win. So try to hit some balls to her strong side, to her backhand, and that would help you with your match for tomorrow

Sir Richard Williams

Yeah, never thought of it like that, but that point was a very important point and unless you see the match a couple of times you probably don't notice how paramount it was. It was a fantastic one....Lindsay looked like she won it a couple of times, then Venus, then Lindsay....etc....until ultimately Venus won it!

Against any other play and Lindsay probably would have put that shot away after about the fourth or fifth strike, but Venus being the great mover she was kept in the point, and Lindsay managed to keep up even though her movement isn't all that great she did a spectacular job in that match!

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times this last couple of days - but it truely was a fantastic match from both players! More of those please.......

watching this match, one wouldnt think that lindsay's biggest flaw is movement. she moved perfectly fine!disappointing she lost, but yay for vee!
