Shamil Tarpishev: Russian success of 2004 was too early

He repeated again what he said at the end of 2004 - that 2004 success was a sign of things to come - but still a bit early, linked not only to improvement of Russian players, but also to depleted fields. He says that he expects 2006 to be the next big year of Russian girls and he expects Sharapova and Kuznetsova to be #1 contenders in 2006, suggesting that they are not even close to their peak in terms of their development as players...

"..just knowing that as long as i choose life, there is hope."

If Maria and Sveta converted their mp's in the last 2 majors, it wouldn't seem too early.
