People writting off the WS

Why is this? The recent talk: Justine is the ONLY contender for Wimbledon, while the sisters would be lucky to even win more than 2 matches.

Are people forgetting that Serena DID win the Oz open only 5 months ago?

Don't worry about it bandabou. Justine just won the FO(a surface that she is the best on) so some people get carried away. She can be considered on of the favorites on grass, but noone is guarenteed a win and their are others on grass who are better than her.

She also crashed out of Dubai and Amelia Island with injury and in Rome and Miami with rather sluggish performances, plus she hasn't played for months. I think there's lots of contenders for Wimbledon and Serena's very much included in that.

Lindsay Davenport

Elena Bovina | Anastasia Myskina | Flavia Pennetta
Fernando Verdasco | Tommy Haas

Q. Give us an update on the kid.

i will admit writting serena off is dumb, but if vee continues the way she is going she would be lucky to get passed round 3 or 4 at wimby, and that is an awful performance for her there.

I would never wright off WS at Wimbledon, but I understand why some people are doing that. Justine won her GS today and some fans would like to celebrate her victory in peace here, but it's not possible mostly b/c of some WS fans. So now we're stuck in this uninteligent conversation and making fools of ourselves

No-one is writing off Serena. Several, including some fans, have written off Venus as a condender for the title but I've not seen a single post on this forum that would suggest that anyone thinks that Serena isn't one of the main contenders for Wimbledon.

Of course, on the very day that Justine has won her fourth GS, people are writing off her Wimbledon chances but I expected that.

If Serena is injury free and has been training hard, I agree she is
the number one contender at Wimbledon. Despite all the delerium
over Justine's F.O. win, I think that the really big serving girls (not
big ground stroking) have the advantage.

Venus will have to prove herself. Not playing on grass before Wimbledon
could prove costly, with her confidence being somewhat shakey.

I love it when people write off my faves! honey_b is right: Let them! Doesn't make a whit of difference on the court.

Anyway, I think everyone knows Serena is one of the top 2 or 3 contenders for the Wimbledon title. I'd put her up there with Maria, both ahead of my girl Justine who has never won it yet. Venus also should not be forgotten, but her chances aren't quite up there with with the very, very top group, imo.

Why don't you ask (by private messaging) those who think 'Justine is the ONLY contender for Wimbledon, while the sisters would be lucky to even win more than 2 matches.'.

Because most of us Philistines don't think so.

Justine Henin

Thank you.

Even on Belgian TV...they did.

The only person I've seen writing Serena off is Bud Collins Obviously, Serena is one of the biggest favourites for Wimbledon Nonetheless, I have seen people writing Venus off ... but Venus has given them reasons for writing her off (not that I think Venus cannot prove them wrong).

Life is so gloriously improbable

This thread should be "People writting off Henin-Hardenne", as most of WS fans and other nay-sayers have been doing.

Serena and even Venus are strong contenders for Wimbledon, even more so than Justine (not sure about Venus, though). Maria, Lindsay, Kim, Svetlana and Amelie are also up there. Plus the surprises.
