I miss Arantxa's mom and that little dog!

Does anyone else? How many years did I see that anxious Mom in the stands at every single Slam! It seemed like the end of an era when she stopped appearing. I miss you, Arantxa and family! You are NOT forgotten!

I was watching amatch the other day, probably Svetlana. And the camera zoomed in on Aranxta. I miss her gutsy, never say die attitude that’s for sure. Although one time she cost me a bundle, when she defeated Monica in the final, but I forgave her. hehe

Here is a pic I took of Arantxa and her dog at Brussels in 2002

Of course. I also remember her mom's funny hats ! and Emilio
In 1998, Arantxa used to have 2 dogs, one called Roland and the other Garros ... but they were travelling only with one of them.
Arantxa was such a fighter ...

It took me a long time to forgive Arantxita for (and get over) the 1989 French Open final. Ah, to be that young and foolish again...

Best left-right combination by a German (and that includes Max Schmeling): Steffi Graf. All she did in 1987 was knock Navratilova out of #1 and try to knock Evert out of the sport. (Mike Lupica in "The Best and Worst of Tennis in 1987", World Tennis)

"A couple of years ago, we nicknamed Steffi Graf's forehand 'Jaws'. And that music would go perfectly when she starts running in to the net, swarming on that little ball." (JoAnne Russell, during the 1988 Wimbledon final between Graf and Navratilova)

Yes! I guess those 2 doggies have died and been replaced.

I get the feeling that if Arantxa were ever to have a daughter, we'd see HER in the stands with fur coat and brothers and a little doggy in a purse. Of course her Mom would be next to her, too; the whole family'd be there supporting feisty little Arantxa Junior.

Arantxa's mother was a permanent fixture in the stands of RG. Part of the woodwrok as we say.

And in the RG Classic they used to show on Eurosport, her fiestiness was always on display (the mother's!!).

Arantxa certainly derived a lot of strength from her mom and her beloved dogs, Roland and Garros.

Viva Arantxa! (Is that right? My Espanol is terrible).

Arantxa was on Eurosport yesterday being interviewed before the final and she's looking great.

Arantxa's mother was one of the good tennis parents and went to all of Arantxa and her brother's matches when she could.

Here's Arantxa's mother after the French Open 1994. It's not a fur coat but leopard print this time
