French Open 2005: The worst grand slam this decade?

I would have to say yes, there really has been a drought of quality matches, the semis and the final in particular were just plain dull.

Yes...but it's in line with the last few majors, IMO. We haven't had a high quality major in a long long time

On the plus side, unexpected finalists.... so interesting from that perspective. Loving Mary Pierce as a finalist, shame she couldn't perform on the day.

i agree. The fact that the only match that had some drama in it was Ivanovic-Mauresmo and Kuznetsova-Henin-Hardenne

NO

Jankovic suffers from severe Chinese syndrome! Only God can help her!

Yes i only remember a semi decent final (Pierce-Martinez) all the rest were very bad, sometimes because one player was so good sometimes because both played badly

Yes!

So many top players playing bad tennis in early rounds and were upset by lower ranked players because of producing too much unforced errors (the opponents playing not brilliant too). In addition to that there were boring semifinals (6:1 6:1; 6:2 6:3) and a very quick final (6:1 6:1).

I really hope that Wimbledon will be more interesting and entertaining than the disappointing French Open...

when it comes down to it all i want is some drama, 2001 wasn't amazing quality but it was gutsy on both parts and in the balance for 3 hours, thats enough for me to have a great afternoon watching it

Surely not the best, but not the worst either...

This can't last. This misery can't last. I must remember that and try to control myself. Nothing lasts really. Neither happiness nor despair. Not even life lasts very long. There'll come a time in the future when I shan't mind about this anymore, when I can look back and say quite peacefully and cheerfully how silly I was. No, no, I don't want that time to come ever. I want to remember every minute, always, always to the end of my days.

I don't think anyone is trying to take anything from Justine but this tournament was not exciting. If the play was up to par, neither Justine nor Lindsay would have been in the finals. They'd be sitting home just like Venus.
