First Time Since 1998 That Former FO Champions Meet In Final
There aren't any top seeds left in the women's draw. Some say the level of play dropped this French Open.
However, one fact that stands out is that two former champions at the French Open are once again playing in the finals. Not since 1998 when Sanchez-Vicario defeated Monica Seles have two former FO champs faced-off in the finals at Paris.
As unprobable as a 2005 Henin-Hardenne vs Pierce final in France would have been predicted just two months ago, both women have fought through a barrage of illness/injury which kept both out of the sport for months at a time.
You may be disappointed that your favs lost and whine about it being "boring" this year, but anytime you have former champions playing in the final, its great for tennis.
