Justine - The new "Chris Evert" of Roland Garros?

Assuming she wins on Saturday, Justine will have won two Roland Garros titles in three years - and had she not been sick last year, she could have three-peated. Do you guys think she will repeat Chris's feat of winning seven French Opens? Can she surpass that mark?

Monica could have threatened it had it not been for that horrible waste of Oxygen Gunther Parche...but I don't think anyone will win 8 to break Chrissie's record. Chrissie will always be the Queen of Clay.

No you can't win one year flame out the next and then repeat the cycle and expect to reach Evert's status....

"And for the best of the teen-agers who followed her, and who occasionally referred to her as over the hill, Graf had a ready answer: against top-ranked Martina Hingis, Graf wound up 7-2. Graf's stirring 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 throttling of Hingis at the French Open final this June was perhaps the most emphatic parting shot the game has ever seen. "

Don't forget that it took Evert about 12 years to win seven titles. Provided Justine stays healthy and still wants to still compete, she has plenty of time to win several more titles.

No way in hell she'll pass Evert.

I say Enna gets 4-5 RG titles when all is said and done.

It's faaaaaaaaar too early to make such comparisans. Justine still has to win her second title, today she still only has one FO-title. And even if she wins saturday and eventhough she's one of the best, if not the best claycourters out there the only comparison or poll that can be made I think right now should be 'Is Justine going to surpass Aranxta's title-amount in RG' and then take it step by step

Allez.

Who knows? We'll have to wait 8-10 years to know the answer?

Three of those 12 years (76-78) she skipped RG to play Team Tennis. So, she did get those 7 in like 10 tries, not bad.

Thank you!
It's so early for this thread, and there's no need in one right now!

I don't think Evert's Roland Garros record or her clay record in general will ever be surpassed. But that doesn't mean that Justine couldn't become an RG legend in her own right. If she could equal or surpass 3 RG titles (Seles, Sanchez-Vicario) she would already be in elite company.
