Another strange coincidence

Four of the most dominant tennis players of the last 30 years were Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova, Steffi Graf, and Pete Sampras. They're the only players to have won more than ten Slams in that time period and here's the similarity:

Evert: First Slam - French Open 1974
Last Slam - French Open 1986 (same Slam as the first, 12 years later)

Navratilova: First Slam - Wimbledon 1978
Last Slam - Wimbledon 1990 (same Slam as the first, 12 years later)

Graf: First Slam - French Open 1987
Last Slam - French Open 1999 (same Slam as the first, 12 years later)

Sampras: First Slam - US Open 1990
Last Slam - US Open 2002 (same Slam as the first, 12 years later)

Strange coincidence, isn't it?

Best left-right combination by a German (and that includes Max Schmeling): Steffi Graf. All she did in 1987 was knock Navratilova out of #1 and try to knock Evert out of the sport. (Mike Lupica in "The Best and Worst of Tennis in 1987", World Tennis)

"A couple of years ago, we nicknamed Steffi Graf's forehand 'Jaws'. And that music would go perfectly when she starts running in to the net, swarming on that little ball." (JoAnne Russell, during the 1988 Wimbledon final between Graf and Navratilova)

Great, so that means Serena's got another 7 years of winning slams and her last is going to be the US Open 2012. Cool!
