Women's Tennis is a 4 Country Sport!

This upcoming slam final will witness two players who, not only have been slam champions, but also have come from 2 of only 4 countries to win a slam since wimbledon of 1999. And the slam finalists for the past 24 slams have come from only 7 countries (players from 2 of which are retired)

Australian Open 2000- Lindsay Davenport (USA) d. Hingis (SUI)
Australian Open 2001- Jennifer Capriati (USA) d. Hingis (SUI)
Australian Open 2002- Jennifer Capriati (USA) d. Hingis (SUI)
Australian Open 2003- Serena Williams (USA) d. V. Williams (USA)
Australian Open 2004- Justine Henin-Hardenne (BEL) d. Clijsters (BEL)
Australian Open 2005- Serena Williams (USA) d. Davenport (USA)

French Open 2000- Mary Pierce (FRA) d. Martinez (ESP)
French Open 2001- Jennifer Capriati (USA) d. Clijsters (BEL)
French Open 2002- Serena Williams (USA) d. V. Williams (USA)
French Open 2003- Justine Henin-Hardenne (BEL) d. Clijster (BEL)
French Open 2004- Anastasia Myskina (RUS) d. Dementieva (RUS)
French Open 2005- Justine Henin-Hardenne (BEL)/ Mary Pierce (FRA)

Wimbledon 1999- Lindsay Davenport (USA) d. Graf (GER)
Wimbledon 2000- Venus Williams (USA) d. Davenport (USA)
Wimbledon 2001- Venus Williams (USA) d. Henin-Hardenne (BEL)
Wimbledon 2002- Serena Williams (USA) d. V. Williams (USA)
Wimbledon 2003- Serena Williams (USA) d. V. Williams (USA)
Wimbledon 2004- Maria Sharapova (RUS) d. S. Williams (USA)
Wimbeldon 2005- Venus Williams (USA) d. Davenport (USA)

US Open 1999- Serena Williams (USA) d. Hingis (SUI)
US Open 2000- Venus Williams (USA) d. Davenport (USA)
US Open 2001- Venus Williams (USA) d. S. Williams (USA)
US Open 2002- Serena Williams (USA) d. V. Williams (USA)
US Open 2003- Justine Henin-Hardenne (BEL) d. Clijsters (BEL)
US Open 2004- Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS) d. Dementieva (RUS)

Only 3 countries have had #1s in the past 5 years too:
Lindsay (USA)
Jennifer (USA)
Venus (USA)
Serena (USA)
Justine (BEL)
Kim (BEL)
Amelie (FRA)

Can anyone explain the amazing success these four nations have had? As opposed to men's tennis, where there is much more obvious depth.

Career Grand Slam in your 20s? Been there done that. Career golden slam your 30s?
There's only 1.
Serena.
