And from the article -
As a regular gymgoer, I've noticed a frustrating epidemic: leaning. I see women putting half their weight on cardio machines' rails because either they've cranked up the machine too fast or they can't handle their chosen incline. Leaning spoils the effectiveness of your workout. When I walk on the treadmill, I go at a brisk pace, usually about 4 mph, on an incline set to between eight and 12. I keep the speed constant, but I rotate the incline as I go. That tempo is also perfect for doing biceps curls, punches, and shoulder presses with light dumbbells (under two pounds) at the same time. The simultaneous challenge takes your mind off your feet and pumps up your heart rate. If you're walking for 20 minutes and do five sets of 30 punches, it's an efficient and effective use of your gym time. It sounds effortless, but it's quite demanding!
I get bored really easily, so I'll turn up the Top 40 music and even break out a book. I love anything entertaining; I'm currently reading In Her Shoes and Good in Bed, both by Jennifer Weiner. But no matter what you're doing, engage your core: Suck in your stomach, squeeze your butt, and concentrate on the muscles you're working. I try to visualize my arms getting longer, leaner, and more toned. Why bother hauling yourself to the gym if you're just going to go through the motions? When you really commit to something, even if it's only what you can fit in during your lunch break, it makes all the difference. Trust me.
The most wasted of all days is one without laughter....
Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there
