trivia time!

anyone seen "stump the schwab" on espn2? it's a neat trivia game show all about sports, the 1st round is always a question with multiple answers, for example "name the 16 national league baseball managers this season" and then the players take turns one at a time giving answers until they make a mistake then they are eliminated

today's question: name the 19 french open women's singles champions in the open era, between all of us we could come up with list i'm sure! but i wanted to see if you could guess which of the list the people forgot, and also see if you could guess the wrong guesses people made (usually there are 3 mistakes, but one contestant repeated an answer)

here is the full list of champions, discuss who you think the general public would get!
Nancy Richey
Margaret Smith Court
Evonne Goolagong
Billie Jean King
Chris Evert
Martina Navratilova
Sue Barker
Mima Jausovec
Virginia Ruzici
Hana Mandlikova
Steffi Graf
Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario
Monica Seles
Iva Majoli
Mary Pierce
Jennifer Capriati
Serena Williams
Justine Henin-Hardenne
Anastasia Myskina

ok, they got 13 of the 19, which 6 did the "average joe" panel forget? and who did they think won the french? (the answers may surprise you...)
their 2 mistaken guesses are:
1) a one time french finalist, 1 time major winner
2) a no time french finalist, 2 time major winner

make your guesses!! i'll post the truth tomorrow and if your curiosity gets the best of you, then PM me for the answers

It will always be Arantxa, hall of famer! and martina hingis and kim clijsters - amazing legends
ana ivanovic and the italian girls, especially pennetta (forza azzurre! RG CHAMP FRANCESCA AND FINALIST SARA!)
aga, vika, sam, na in the next tier
NEVER say "I don't care who wins, I just want good tennis"

I'll go with Udity, and say it's the Conchita, Tracy Austin combo
that people always assume won RG. It even sounds right.

I totally use to forget Virginia Rizici too, until I moved
abroad and she would do commentary on a couple of matches
for the International Live telecast of RG. They would say..
"and your match commentator is blah, blah RG winner
Virginia Rizici"

*Rizici's voice is funky. A wonderful
melodic mixed accent of Italian and Dracula.
The way she say's Zustine HenNNinnn HaRdennnnne or
Lindy-say Davin-purtttt is hysterical

I cant stand Virginia commentating. I find her so bland and boring. Like she just always points out the bleedingly obvious..

ok, they forgot the following:
Nancy Richey
Virginia Ruzici
Mima Jausovec
Iva Majoli
Mary Pierce!
Margaret Court!!!!

Conchita and Tracy were the wrong guesses, and some dumbo guessed Serena again after she was the 2nd person guessed....
good work all...i'm just shocked no one remembered 24-time slam winner margaret court or the much discussed mary pierce (big story in the early 90s), the rest don't surprise me

I was thinking about them foregetting Mary and its even more sad because it was only 5 years ago. All the others was along time ago. Majoli was only 8 years ago also.

yeah, the first time i ever saw the show the question was the last 20 different wimbledon winners, they did much better on the french the other day

also, a fun note for calimero...they had a category all about steffi the other day, i forget what the questions were specifically
