New energy bars boost oldtimers' careers!

A lot has been said recently here in GM about how better nutrition (esp. new energy bars) contributed to the astonishing soaring of women's tennis in the last 5-10 years. We all know that today's top 10 would belt Graf, Navratilova at will.

Best example are oldtimers like Sugiyama (almost 30 years old), Suarez (almost 29 years old) and Farina Elia (will become 33 tomorrow - Congrats, Silvia!!).

At the end of the 90ies they were beaten like a drum by top players. Grandma Graf (with reconstructed knee) waxed Ai Sugiyama in their last match with 6-0, 6-1 (IW 1999) and cleaned Paola Suarez' clock with 6-0, 6-3. Farina escaped - she never played Graf. Phew, Silvia ....

Enter the 21st century.
New nutrition strategies are invented for women tennis players, especially mid-20-year-old journeywomen. Sugi, Suarez and Farina munch them ALL DAY long!

And - can you believe it! - their careers get an unprecented boost before sunset!

Ai Sugiyama:
Soars to all-time career high in February 2004, breaking the top 10 for the first time in her long, long career.
She gives today's superstar, "Masha" at tough fight in Wimbledon 2004, losing 7-5, 5-7, 1-6.
She is 2-2 H2H against another Russian juggernaut, Nasty Myskina.
Her last match against the great Enna ends with - an Ai victory (YEC 03)!
And she has won 2 of the last 4 matches against Kimmy Clijsters!
Well done, Ai!
Kudos to the energy bars and the modern science of nutrional wizardry!!

Paola Suarez:
She makes an career high #9 in June 2004.
She beats "Supermasha" (Sharpova that is) at FO 04 with 6-1, 6-3.
She gives V. Williams a tough fight in their last meeting in Berlin 04 (6-7, 7-5, 2-6).
She beats S. Williams in their only match ever at Amelia Island 2000.
She is 1-1 H2H against Myskina.
Well done, Paola!
What would you have done without those super-duper energy bars!!

Silvia Farina Elia:
Shortly after her 30th birthday in spring 02 she reaches her career high in the WTA rankings (#11).
She beats Sharapova-baby in Rome (7-6, 6-0 ) and takes a set from the saviour of modern tennis at AO 05.
She beats V. & S. Williams within weeks in 2005.
She leads FO champ Myskina with 2-0 H2H (Nasty winning only 10 games in 4 sets!).
Well done, Silvia!
Thank God you found those new protein energy bars and became rejuvenated!!

OMG, Steffi Graf and her 90ies minions REALLY dodged some bullets there!
Imagine what Ai, Paola and Silvia of TODAY would have done with them!!
Murder!!!

Ah, now we know how Sugiyama managed to win her only game in her last match against Graf (0-6, 1-6) and how Suarez could wrestle even 3 games off Graf (0-6, 3-6). Do you think that today's #1 in doubles, Ruano-Pascual, won HER only game against Graf in their last meeting in Montreal 1998 (0-6, 1-6) that way, with her backhand?

Wow, knowing to hit backhands is the key to success for sure!

I don't know how you did it, but you managed to bag Masha, tried in vain to make Graf look good, and used waaaaaay too many metaphors all in one post. I'd say "impressive" but, well, I'm not impressed

Why is it that the world never remembered the name of Johann Gambolputty de von Ausfern-
