OMFG!! Hingis vs. Navratilova in July @ Boston!!!

Martina Meets Martina In WTT

Martina Hingis By Tennis Week
04/19/2005

Martina will meet Martina in the name game that highlights the opening week of World TeamTennis. The 30th season
of WTT kicks off with Hall of Famer Martina Navratilova scheduled to square off with her namesake, former No. 1 Martina Hingis, in their first singles meeting on July 7th in Boston.

Navratilova, who is competing in her 17th WTT season, makes a historic return to Boston where she played for the Lobsters in 1978. For Hingis, it will be an introduction to World TeamTennis as she plays the first of her five 2005 WTT matches.

The schedule for the 2005 WTT season was released today and includes 84 matches in 12 markets spanning a three-week period from July 4-24th.

Hingis is scheduled to play three consecutive nights in the opening week of playing starting on Tuesday, July 5th when she leads the New York Sportimes against host Philadelphia. On Wednesday, July 6th Hingis hits New York to headline the Sportimes home-opener at Harbor Island Stadium in Mamaroneck against Hartford, followed by the momentous match of the Martinas on Thursday, July 7th in Boston.

On Thursday, July 14th former Wimbledon champions collide as John McEnroe leads the Sportimes against Boris Becker's Hartford FoxForce in a Mamaroneck, New York match that reprises their memorable WTT meeting in 2003.

I'm going. I don't care how much it costs, but I'm going to be there for that.

Awesome!!! Pretty sad for Hingis, though, considering Martina N. was able to last decades without a serious injury, but Hingis who is only 23 is suffering bad.

Let them eat cake.

*finds an excuse to visit somebody in Boston*

I browse once in a while.

It would be kinda embarassing for the younger to lose to the older.

I hope it's televised on the tennis channel!

Hingis will never again consider returning to the tour after Navratilova cleans her clock.

Grand old man of Tennis Andre Agassi - All-time most adored & well-loved & respected player ~ we'll miss you
I look at people like Andre Agassi and Monica Seles, and of course what they did. I was always amazed at how Monica came back after so long and did so well. I try to keep that as an inspiration. He who doubts loses. (Serena Williams)

I know Ticketmaster sells them online. That's what I'm going to use to get my Sportimes/Foxforce tickets when Hingis plays Shaughnessy, as well as tickets for this match. They're not on sale right now though since the official '05 schedule just came out.

I would wait another week or so before checking ticketmaster.com ...or at the very least check out Harvard (the site of the match) and see when they sell them. You will definitely be fine as far as getting a ticket. I go to see the Sportimes since they're 20 minutes from my house and I don't think they've ever completely sold out. They've had Seles, Kournikova, Navratilova, Becker, Mcenroe, etc play there and there's always a few empty seats floating around (in the case of Monica the stands were half empty in a 2000 seat stadium)
