Question Renata Voracova

Can anyone who has seen me please tell me about her game?
She hit hard? Is she tall?

I saw her play once, i can only remember that she goes for all her shots quite flat. She was playing Sharapova in Aus open qualies and having no trouble firing the ball back at her... in fact Sharapova was very much pushed behind the baseline. Anways...

Please make comments!

She is tall. She doesn't hit hard but her shots are flat. Beckhand is better. She has very weak second serve.

I think her problem is not shots but herself. She is like Koukalova or Cervanova - when she is losing she doesn't fight. She played against Domachowska in Warsaw and she was checking all points even if she knows that ball was good. She laughed when Domachowska did error. People thought that she is crazy

Well, I'm no tennis expert...but this is what I remember about Renata.

I saw her over two years ago, in St. Paul, where she played Shenay Perry in the semifinals. (topped #1 Meilen Tu in the QF , then she was ranked like 101 or something) Now that I look back at the result, she lost 0-6, 3-6. I remember my dad commented on the fact that she stored a ball between and during points in her 'butt-pocket". She did hit very flat, but just couldn't stay with Shenay's variety and big backhand. When she had the opportunity to take a short ball, she would literally back up, and then hit the shot. When she made it up to net at one occasion, she hit a forehand volley which rivals my own -- she hit it right into the bottom of the net. Coincidently, Ally Baker and Tanner Cochran were strutting their stuff in between points and burst out laughing at the same time the point ended. I believe she recieved an injury time-out late in the second set, and rallied a bit to pull within a game or two of Shenay, but just seemed completely uninspired.

Personally I enjoy the stories behind the no-names. It makes following this sport fun.

well, i am interested because i remember watching her against Sharopva once and she was rather impressive, easily handling Sharaopva's power, but in the end she wasn't the same standard.

Only time I saw Renata was on t.v. against Mauresmo at Warsaw 03, she actually won the first set in that match before Amelie picked up her game and won the next two quite comfortably. She seemed a decent player and was able to hit some nice flat groundies when she had the opportunity to set them up. I seem to remember the forehand was a bit awkward looking and she made a lot more errors off that side than the backhand which was more technically sound. I can also see the attitude similarity Wojtek made with Ludmila Cervanova lol.

But the best from Cervanova, Koukalova and Voracova is Klara.

Klara was twice in the final in Sopot. There're small reward for finalist and winner. Winner gets gold, finalist - silver reward. Here is the pic:

When Klara saw reward she was something like WTF She has been always mad on the court and it's something like a duty for her not fun to play tennis. She has very good shots from forehand and beckhand and she is better than Renata and Cervanova but like them she isn't fighter. It's something like "ok now i'm going to lost the match, idon't care there will be new tournament next week ". Results this year just proved that she didn't change her motivation. 0:6 1:6 against Raymond in AO, 0:6 0:6 in Paris against Farina, 3 games with Dally in Miami and 4:6 0:6 with Patty last week.

Cervanova is diffrent on court. She isn't so mad but she is strange. Sometimes she is fighting sometimes not. You don't know who will play: bad or good Cervanova.

Renata can be top 150 player, maybe top 100 but she won't top 50-70 player. She is smart, against Domachowska she knew after few ball that she need to change rythm because Marta played flat shots and she changed rythm very well. But like i wrote she checked all balls it was so stupid because she knew that the ball is out or in. Some people screamed "Bitch" ( crowd in Warsaw is totally diffrent then in Sopot ) and she understood because czech and polish are very similar. Her coach was shocked, she was laughing on this When she lost second set - Domachowska won 4 games in row she went to the chair and said that it had been dark she can play but it was something like 6:30 pm and they stopped the match. Next day Domachowska made tons of ue and Renata won. I think she knew what is doing because Marta was young player, she played tier 2 for the first time and it was smart tactic from her.

From technical part - there is something wrong with her shots, maybe with her grip. Because she can hit flat balls and then suddenly some shots specially from the forehand are going to the bottom of the net. Her second serve is very short and weak and very often she serves to them bottom of the net. She made in Warsaw and Sopot a lot of df.

That's the thing I feel is different between Klara and Ludmila - Klara seems so much more miserable looking in the court, she always seems to have a bit of a mad or annoyed look to her. Ludmila even though sometimes it looks like she gives up, she doesn't really get mad, it is more relaxed like Jana Nejedly lol. You don't know how they will be because one game they will seem like have given up, then the next they have the same body language but play much better

I thought the same thing technically about Renata - It's the grip, especially the forehand grip, it is very awkward looking and when she was pulled out of a position she was comfortable with, she made a lot of bad looking errors into the net mostly because she hits so flat. I don't think her game is as solid as Ludmila's or Klara's (I think Klara is also the best athlete of them) but she could return to where she was before if she can regain the confidence.

I don't know. I remember seeing Renata at the qualies and finding that she was amongst the most powerfull (not heavy) hitters of the ball. She was quite tall as well. Just looked to me like she had all the makings of a top 100 player... she must be mentally weak.
