Serena doesn't acknowledge her opponents?

Quite the contrary...This says otherwise...read and weep haters...

"I wasn't sure how Serena would react after that loss, but Serena Williams was the epitome of grace and class after that absolute atrocious treatment she recieved in that semifinal. There's not too many players who would have showed that much class and courage after a match like that."

-Mary Carillo after 2003 French Open semifinal

"She congratulated me and gave me a couple kisses at the net."

-Jennifer Capriati after defeating Serena Williams at 2004 French Open quarterfinal.

"Serena said great job at the net and gave me a pat on the back. I'm sure it was hard from her being defending champion and all."

-Lindsay Davenport after defeating Serena Williams in 2000 US Open.

"I think she took the loss great and I thought it was nice for her to congratulate me after the trophy ceremony. She was very talkative today even before the match. But that's just her you know.

Lindsay Davenport after defeating Serena Williams at 2004 JP Morgan Chase.

"I don't remember exactly what she said but she gave me some words of encouragement and congratulated me."

Patty Schnyder after defeating Serena Williams in 2002 FCC

So basically what you're saying is she's only really been grateful towards three credible people? o.O

At the beginning I was a bit about Serena's attitude, but she's a great girl over the past 3-4yrs

Well, Serena hasn't really lost to many people.

Serena has ALWAYS been nothing but classy in victory AND defeat!

"I'm always happy when the Williams sisters win. I support them; I don't know why. They can lose, they can win, and they take it the same way. Maybe it's because tennis is not the biggest focus in their lives. But that they still end up winning Grand Slams is great." Roger Federer, July 2005

Yup. People always focus on what Serena does during the match, which might not always be classy (fist pumping opponents mistakes, grunting REALLY loud, screaming, smashing racquets, yelling at linesmen). But when it's "game, set, match" she's all smiles no matter what the outcome.

Really, don't even look at me...

I agree. There is nothing wrong with showing some passion/determination/fighting spirit during the match. and i have to say at wimbledon 2004 i admired the way she treated maria after the match - the hug and all smiles.
i just don't like how later she comes out with statements such as 'i wasn't there'.

SVSK is trying to fool us with those quotations. For every one he show shere, we can show at least three in which Serena dismisses, ignores or disrespects her opponent. Her aftermatch press conferences are filled with excuses :"Oh that wasn't me out there",which prompted once her rival to say :"well at least I was there!" or "AH.I got a pulled groin",etc,etc,etc,etc.etc.etc.etc.etc............ .........
Also,SVSK is being disingeneous with these quotations. They are out of context or he is totally misreading them,For instance, about the last one, when Schnyder beat Serena in 2002,the quotation is LITERALY true ,but not the meaning.Serena told Schnyder "Well you might as well win the whole thinh now".By which she meant that after by some weird reason Patty had beaten her,the Best Possible Player Ever in the world, then she might as well win the whole tournament, which Patty actually didn't Iva Majoli did

Sometimes she's graceful. Sometimes she's not. Just like everybody else.

Just last week Serena was saying how well Silvia Farina Elia was playing when she had to retire against her at Amelia Island.

Just not sure what people are trying to get at around here.

You know folks I know it's hard, cause I get defensive and pissed off too when people talk smack women's tennis, but if we would not respond to threads such as the one that got closed, idiots like the one that started it would not get any recognition......
