Question Will 2005 be "The Year of the Youngsters"?

Just like years past, with a "group" of people dominating, will this year be "The Year of the Youngsters"

2001- Year of the Americans...Capriati winning 2 GS, Venus winning 2

2002- Year of the Williamses- Serena wins 3, Venus reaches finals.

2003- Year of the Belgians- Justine wins 2, Kimmy reaches finals, both reach world number one

2004- Year of the Russians- 3 Different Russian GS Champs.

2005- ????????

Itís difficult to imagine three young players each winning a major title or one winning a couple of titles. Well Sharapova is still in the age bracket of 'Young' players. And she's already won a slam title.I just cannot imagine if the likes of Serena, Maria, Lindsay, Kim and Justine are in fine fettle. Being beaten by any other opponents than the group of 5. For me some of the players who have wons slams, haven't improved, in fact they seemed to have gone backwards, maybe this is a reaction to winning a major title.

I think (or hope) this will be the year we get a new crop of "best players never to have won a slam."

Good Luck in 2005 to:

Martina Hingis-Welcome Back!

Venus Williams-Queen of Tennis

Ana Ivanovic-Future Champion

Kim Clijsters-Darling of Tennis

Honorable Mentions: Dinara Safina, Justine Henin-Hardenne, Lindsay Davenport, Svetlana Kuznetsova. Good Luck Girls!
