I'm looking into purchasing a new racquet (Wilson nTour). I noticed it comes in 2 sizes: MidPlus and Oversize...

Do most people play with the Oversize? or will I look like a stupid no-brain ball-basher to the more experienced?

You sound (from your post) like you're fairly new to tennis. If so, why not take advantage of the oversize racquets? Big ol' sweet-spot, tons of power - just the thing for someone learning the game or the average hacker.

Also, I know a lot of senior players (at a high level) who have switched to bigger racquets for different reasons - they certainly don't give a shit what they look like...

The "players" racquets are generally mid-size and smaller. They are less powerful (advanced players don't need a racquet to generate power, they've got plenty) but have great control and are quick and maneuverable at the net.

It looks weird?!?

Extreme number one...

Extreme number two...

...why would it look weird?!? ...Myskina´s special XL raquet

Well, I have a Wilson 103"...and so far it´s ok. I used to play with a smaller headsize but I found that a large one has its positive aspects too. You might want to try playing with both first. Don´t chose a raquet just because of the look

BTW: Serena has a 113" raquet headsize...it really depends on your own game

The Yonex there is no Oversize at all (98 sq. inch).

I agree with the posts before. I have been using an oversize in the past and you will fell a point where you don't feel comfortable with it anymore, because you cannot develop your game any further.
Then switch to another racket-size.

Heck, all racquets are oversized nowadays, at least to old fogies like me who remember wood.

I recently went from an oversize to a midsize. Most of the comments above are true. I would add that if you mostly play doubles I'd go midsize because you have more control on volleys. For singles, the oversize gives great power.

Finally, the line is pretty blurred at this point. I can barely see any difference between my middy and my doubles buddy's over. Most people won't, unless they play the same racquet you do.

I had one when I was younger. But midsize is fine with me now.
