Biggest women's serve ever returned in play??

Does anyone know what the biggest women's serve ever returned is?? I know Venus has served 125mph several times on tour and I wondered if her opponents were able to get those serves back in play. Anyone have an idea on this interesting stat?

I know Venus returned a 124mph back in play, has there been any higher??

I don't know but If I had to bet my house it probably involved a match between Vee and Ree or maybe Davenport.

That's what I was thinking too. Venus would have to be the server, Serena has gone to 126mph serving, but that was an ace. I know Venus served 125 mph against LD I think at Wimbledon, but I don't know if it was returned or not.

Considering that Vee and Ree have been practicing against each all their adult lives, it has to be a match against each other I would think.

Well, Marat said he didn't like serving full power at the girls but it wasn't slow or anything and she hit a lot of winners off of it!

Lindsay Davenport

Elena Bovina | Anastasia Myskina | Flavia Pennetta
Fernando Verdasco | Tommy Haas

Q. Give us an update on the kid.

I think I just read somewhere that Martina Hingis was returning Goran Ivanisovic's serve like it was nothing and it frustrated him. That might count if you're not counting the women against the women.

Venus' biggest serve was 127 I think at Filderstadt back in the late 90s and I don't know if it was an ace or not.

In 1998 at the Swisscom tournament in Zurich (I think) she clocked the now record at 127.4. It came on match point against Mary Pierce, and yes it was an ace.

I am not sure of the exact speed on the serve but Brenda Schultz once served a huge 1st Serve or someone else at the Aussie open and I believe and Hingis hit a return winner of a serve of something like or around 123 miles per hour, barring it probably wasnt too well placed but thats some feat!

Venus returned Serena's 120 or 121 mph serve in Miami, last week.

Let them eat cake.

Wasn't there a match between Seles and Venus few years ago at LA (Home Depot championship) where Monica hit a return winner of a big serve of Venus (I think 119pmh?)?
