Venus explains why the bandaged upper left thigh

Williams arrived at her first clay match of the season with a bandaged upper left thigh. She said it was due to a sore groin that she blamed on the "quick surface change" from hardcourt to clay.

"It was nice that today's match was quick, so I'll have a chance to recover from it," Williams said. "I just think it's from all the sliding."

"People said, we weren't going to make it because we were from the 'hood. People didn't believe in us because of where we came from." Venus Williams.

One fan even jokingly called out, "C'mon, Venus, give her a game."

Williams probably didn't hear her, but in the sixth game she did give Sucha her only win of the match when she hit three consecutive backhands into the net.

lmao!!
