Sugiyama Sends Strycova Packing...

Ai Sugiyama (JPN) [13] def. Barbora Strycova (CZE)
6-7(3) 6-1 6-1

I didn't see the match, but it looks like Ai just gained control and rolled in the last 2 sets.

Maybe Sugiyama is starting to right the ship after a disastrous start to the season.

How good is Barbora? Wasnt she like #2 or #1 in juniors a year or two ago she was also around ranked the same in junior doubles, certainly top 5? Didnt she have decent results like a couple of round of 16s and pushing top 20 players last season?

Yea, Barbora was a Junior World Champion and she won the Australian Open Girls title back to back in 2002 and 2003 I believe. I think also has a pretty fiery temper, which may explain the scoreline of the last two sets.

A good win for Ai though! Hey, it's two wins in a row!
