Sharar Peer

There is something about this girl that has me thinking she's going to have a good clay season. Her game reminds me of Sandrine Testud so much. Her shots, her footwork, her serve, and even her gritty play. She seems to have a pretty good draw this week. If she can get pass Stosur I think she really could upset the slumping Myskina. Any comments?

I see seven players that are younger than her:

1. Maria Sharapova
2. Tatiana Golovin ?
3. Ana Ivanovic
4. Nicole Vaidisova
5. Maria Kirilenko
6. Anna Tchakvetadze
7. Sesil Karatancheva
8. Shahar Peer

i think she will soon be rank higher than Maria Kirilenko, Anna Tchakvetadze & Sesil Karatancheva.

Shahar has loads of potential and the pressure is off her because the media isn't really looking at her as one of the up and comers even though we all know she is.

GO SHAHAR!

My Forever Fav: Jelena Dokic

Serena Williams, Ana Ivanovic

well, she's having fantastic matches right now and i know that the top100 is right around the corner. i'm surprised by the way she's playing against the better players, much better than i suspected. when i say tzipi beating her easily in israel, i thought that she's gunna be no more that a top30 peak and then a fade - now i'm thinking maybe she can actually be a regular in that area.
with so many talents and young players heading way up it's hard for me to say top10 and top20 right now. i don't know if maria K, ana ivanovic, strycova and vaidisova aren't too much for her to battle for the top positions young-girls-wise, but she is playing amazing tennis right now.
should she really have some good clay runs - i'll change my mind.
she might beat the new myskina (cuz in all her years she has NEVER played so bad, so it must be someoneelse ) but it just might be her career best win as well.
she is in a very delicate place at the moment. i'm glad she's slowly climbing and learning how to play in the tour - no need to hurry.
best of luck to her, she's playing the top of the top now and handling well.

if you have nothing important to say, please do so in non-tennis forum. if you have something you think is important, but is actually rubbish regarding anything other than tennis - please do so in the non-tennis forum. if you have something tennis related to say, but it's actually "OMG, X player is so h0t!1" or "who has the biggest boobs on the wtatour" please do so in menstennisforum, under "wta forum". if you have something important, tennis-related and interesting to say please do so. No one in the world can understand how much tennis means to someone, except another fan.

I wouldn't say Shahar is going to be a top 10 player. More like top 20. She'll have very good clay court seasons, and will be able to make do on the hard courts, but I would imagine her grass court and indoor court seasons will be horrid.

She also needs to develop a weapon. I know she hit a boatload of winners against Serena, but for whatever reason Serena was really setting her up to hit those type of shots. Her second serve needs a LOT of work as well. Judging by her recent results as well, she seems to get off to very slow starts in matches and that needs to stop immediately. You can't win every match being down a set.

That being said, her game is going to frustrate the hell out of a lot of people, and she will have more than her share of top 10 scalps and big showings in Tier I's and Grand Slams. I can see her carving out a Farina-Elia career in that she'll be ranked between #13-#20 consistently for several years. Look for her to win one of the smaller clay court events leading up to the French Open that she's entered in (either Budapest or Hungary).

Her backhand is her weapon if you didnt notice in the match with passing shots when Serena tried to come to net some times.

fuck.

her backhand really is top class.
jankovic is the best though in that department

Bradshaw is right about her slow starts. Shahar has been taken to 3 sets by many lesser players.... Shahar was often a set down in many of her matches... slow starts don't cut it at the top level.... but this girl is definently a good player.... i was very impressed when i saw her play live at AO .... she hit so hard and flat... brilliant angles as well.
