What is the difference between green clay and red clay ?

Except the color, what is the difference between green clay and red clay ?
Which surface is the fastest? Is there more tournaments on red clay than on green clay ? And why aren't there any tournament on green clay in Europe and conversely why aren't there any tournament on red green in America ?

Red clay is slower. Green clay is much more compact.

I think red holds up the ball more, Green apparently plays halfway in between red and grass.
