Amelie is in a slump

She's just going down against Kim.

Yeah, yeah ... I know that she's no.2 and I know that she won Antwerp (although Venus choking played a big part in that).

It's more about her general approach to the game. She's too passive.
I imagine that Kim is dictating play, and all Amelie is doing is throwing loopy shots in or sends stiff forehands into the net.

Against Venus, she did play very well at times - when she went to the net.
Against Linetskaya, she didn't do that once. Can't understand that when it's obviously working so well.

Her current game wins her many matches but in the long term it won't pay off.
Going to the net is the right thing to do, so DO IT, ALWAYS!

She is a head case. She really needs a sports psychologist.

She played similarly against Serena at the AO this year.

Mauresmo just didn't show up today mentally.

She seems to not show up more than other top players. Something is wrong I think. Maybe her off court life is consuming her attention. Maybe she cant handle the pressures of the tour. Maybe she just can handle an overly aggressive opponent?

Anyone can have a bad day but when you have so many you need to take stock. Especially in big matches like this. At least it wasnt a slam.

I wouldnt call it a slump, more like shes doing whats shes known to do, not show up for the big pressure situation matches against other top 5 players or top 8 quality players. Sad but its the truth, shes good enough, certainly talented enough to be in the top 10, she will just hover around the top 7 as long as she keeps her form, winning against whom shes supposed to win, anyone outside top 16, usually like 78% effective at doing this when playing healthy. Shes lucky that her consistency has taken her to the #1 Ranking, and has remained top three for the past 9 months or so, but she got plenty to defend during the clay court season, now Clijsters is back and has decent record on clay, however no matter how much more suited clay is for Mauresmo's game theres no way she'l beat an in form Clijsters on a semifinal or final of Berlin or Italian should this situation take place, so she either gets her head together or she'l soon fall out of the top 5, once Warsaw, the German and Italian open come around.

well she has mental blocks against certain players, tightens up when playing on a big occasion and has played sub-par when being close to no.1. All three happened today Look at her last two matches with Kim, one was in the round robin at the YEC and both players played brilliantly and Kim eeked it out in three sets, the next one was the final and Amelie collapsed and got bagelled.
