Week 11 of the Race

Week 11 of "The Race"

There were 20 entries in this edition. Congrats to Serena Willaims and her fans

Highlights:

Sereana got O, zip, nada, no votes. She wrecked all the hopes of Hingis(picked by a couple), Venus(the Race favorite) and then finally Capriati. The most popular non-seed pic, Hantuchova, flamed out early on.

Week 10 Standings

Saki still leads for the 7th week in a row.
The 4 who picked Capriati earned 3 points.
Rollo moved into 3rd over Blessings and Aloha.

A "Race" welcome to new point earner Lola

Next up are Sarasota and Oporto, where winners will earn 2 points, finalists 1 point. I'll take entries until midnight on Monday, board time

Porto's website:

http://www.portoopen.com/2002/

Sarasota's:

http://www.sarasotaopen.com/

Sarasota has added Sanchez-Vicario, making it a lower tiered event with winners of all 4 grands slams! Sanchez has won the French and US, Pierce the French and Auusie, Majoli the French, and Martinez Wimbledon.

not many points this week!

Something was bound to go right sometime today, All these broken pieces fit together to make a perfect picture of us
It got cold and then dark so suddenly and rained, It rained so hard the two of us were the only thing
That we could see for miles and miles
And in the middle of the flood I felt my worth, When you held onto me like I was your little life raft
Please know that you were mine as well
Drops of water hit the ground like God's own tears
And spread out into shapes like Salad bowls and basins and buckets for bailing out the flood

True Matthias, but every point counts
Since it's a slow period, this is what events are worth.

Slams Winner 40 points
Finalist 20
Semis 10 each
Quarters 5 each

The year-ending WTA finalse will count as a slam.

Tier 1's 6 points to winner, 3 to finalist.
Tier 2's 4 points winner, 2 to finalist
Tiers 3-5. 2 points winner, 1 to finalist.

Fed cup will count as a tier 2-all entries are due before first round, which is in April.

Since we still have 3 slams and the WTA finals, anyone can still win!

I'm extending entries til midnight Tuesday, as Sarasota's draw isn't out until Monday.
