Well I dunno about Serena's worst, but Serena sure didn't play her best tennis of the tournament. She must have had at least 7 unforced errors in the game where Cappy failed on a ton of set points! Cappy can't feel good about the momentum of her rivalry with the Williams'. I thought Cappy played fantastic defensive tennis today. Problem was, she was constantly on defense, and Serena didn't make enough errors for her to win (thou she tried).

Its seems clearly true now that the only way to beat either Williams is for them to beat themselves.

I don't think that was Jen's best tennis! Her serves were not there best! She usually hits at least 1 ace in a match.

Good Luck In 2005:
[Martina Hingis] [Justine Henin-Hardenne]
[Cara Black] [Nadia Petrova] [Eugenia Linetskaya] [Patty Schnyder]
[Svetlana Kuznetsova] [Ai Sugiyama] [Su-Wei Hsieh] [Gisela Dulko]

[Maja Matezvic] [Karolina Sprem] [Eleni Daniilidou] [Maria Kirilenko] [Jelena Jankovic]
[Tathiana Garbin] [Timea Bacsinszky] [Kaia Kanepi] [Na Li] [Vera Douchevina]

That's Bullshit!

First of all i am a capriati's fan but all i can say is: well done Serena. I don't know how it happened and i think it is not fair but that's life. Serena didn't play her worst tennis, it is just that in the last couple of matches she played so well and today she played her average tennis so it seemed like it is worse comparing it to the last 2 matches. Everybody just started talking about Serena being number one and i think all of us (as usual) exagerate a little bit, Serena is number 9 now, and there is a lot of time untill she will get to be number one, I am not telling she won't.
Anyway, sorry Jen, you will win next time, it was so close...
Well done Lucky Serena.

I totally disagree with this topic. The Williams' sisters have such high risk in their games that they will pile up a high number of errors however, their winners will balance them out. Yes, V and S might occasionally play a "phenomenal" match where there are a low amount of errors. These "phenomenal" matches will be far and in between b/c of the sisters(esp Serena) playing styles. So to suggest that b/c Serena did not have this "phenomenal match" does not mean she played her worst. One has to realize that when Rena plays Jenn, Jenn forces alot of errors or Rena needs to go for bigger shots. Actually, I thought they played pretty average. IT was far from Jenn's best. Jenn needs to improve that "suck ass" serve.....But anyways congrats to Serena....

By contrast, Serena played terrific at Wimbledon and Capriati HORRIBLE, and look who won? This thread is a waste of space.

What's this about Jennifer's serve. Mid way through the 2nd she was serving at 100%. How much better can you get. She was at 69 for the match.

Jennifer just lost...no excuses. Her game was on...Serena's well maybe not worst but certainly not best won out.

KC

I'll ignore your ignorance...they say it's bliss, so you must be pretty damned happy right now...oh you should share some with Cappy

On to the point... I was watching the real time score board and through the first 3 three games Jennifer was at 100% first serves in...now she was only winning like 67% of those, but she got them in. You can argue all you want...but it's impossible to do better than 100%. Of course as the match went on those numbers came down. But even with all the doubles she served in the 2nd ( and esp. at crucial moment) she still managed 71% for the 2nd.

Player 1 2 3
Jennifer Williams 5 64
Serena Williams 7 77
Elapsed Time By Set 58 64
Set 2 Summary Capriati Williams
1st SERVE % 71% 51%
ACES 0 4
DOUBLE FAULTS 3 0
WINNING % - 1st SERVE PTS. 23 of 41 = 56% 14 of 21 = 67%
WINNING % - 2nd SERVE PTS. 8 of 17 = 47% 10 of 20 = 50%
WINNERS (INCLUDING SERVICE) 6 18
UNFORCED ERRORS 19 33
BREAK POINT CONVERSIONS 2 of 4 = 50 % 2 of 8 = 25 %
NET APPROACHES 2 of 3 = 67 % 9 of 15 = 60 %
TOTAL POINTS WON 48 51

I know you are not the brightest but surely even you can read

ps KC and the dumbshine band...here are her first set serving stats...Set 1 Summary Capriati Williams
1st SERVE % 58% 51%
