Exclamation Zoltan Seles Arrested

This is from the LA Times:

Seles' Brother Arrested on DUI Charge

SARASOTA, Fla. -- The older brother of Monica Seles was arrested and charged with drunken driving after losing control of his car and hitting a tree.

He was treated at the scene of the accident, according to a police report, which did not detail any injuries.

The accident happened early Wednesday while Zoltan Seles was driving home from a club and veered out of control, the police report said.

The car knocked down a sign, hit a tree and rolled. The 36-year-old brother of the tennis star was pinned in the wreckage and had to be pulled out by rescue crews.

Police said breathalyzer tests showed Seles had a blood-alcohol level of 0.172 to 0.177 -- more than twice the .08 level at which the state considers drivers drunk.

Seles of Sarasota was charged with driving under the influence with property damage and was being held in jail Friday on $500 bail. He does not yet have an attorney, according to court records.

Zoltan Seles was a one-time junior tennis champion in the family's native Yugoslavia.

On Dec. 5, Monica Seles was involved in an accident with a woman police said was driving drunk.

Seles and her mother, Ester, sustained minor injuries. The driver of the other car, Cynthia Bauman, was arrested on four counts of DUI and causing damage to people or property.

I found this a bit weird considering his mom & sister were in an accident like this a few weeks ago. Anybody agree??????

Great. All the other things Monica has to deal with, and now it turns out her brother is a goof.

You have to answer for Santino, Carlo.

I don't find it weird this crap happens all the time. I was a member of S.A.D.D. in highschool and I have heard stories and seen the results of alot of drunk drivers. Drunk drivers kill innoncent people everyday. And themselves aswell. I hope maybe this is a wake up call for Zolton. But usually it takes death to see the "light".

I agree with Tennisfan. This is very bizarre. Zolton's sister and mother could have been seriously injured or killed a few weeks ago, when a drunk driver hit them. Fortunately they only suffered minor injuries. And now he gets arrested. The Seles family must be very embarrassed. As far as I'm concermed, they should make even stiffer penalties for drunk or impaired drivers.

Happiness is like a cat. If you try to coax it or call it, it will avoid you. It will never come. But if you pay no attention to it and go about your business, you'll find it rubbing up against your legs and jumping into your lap. - William Bennett

I agree with Double Fault. There are so many other methods of getting places now. One can take a taxi, call a friend, or even walk. I can think of NO excuse to get behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated.

wow, that is very strange. You'd think after what happened with Monica that he would not do something like that...though I don't know a thing about him. I hope he learns his lesson now at least.

I hope they take his drivers-licence away and never give it back!

I now wonder if ZOLTAN was the cause of Monica's "personal problems" she was trying to cope with last year at this time?? Poor Moni!

This is stupid and sad.

Sad that Monica and mom were probably scared he might die or someone else.

Stupid because Monica and her mom could have been killed by a drunk driver and Zoltan ends up driving drunk.

If it was Monica who posted the bail, I wished she would have considered letting Zoltan sit and think about what he did for a while in his jail cell.

I agree with Irma, take away his license. I don't Monica or anyone else driving on the road while her brother is.

Hopefully he'll learn from this.
