Silvia played badly and very nervous yet Venus still couldn't even manage to take a set off her.

The Williams story takes another drop

Blisters = could not grip racket properly = loss of touch = ball goes everywhere

It's happened to me, I know about it.

Women's tennis sucks.

Silvia was ranked in the Top Twenty just last week or the week before; losing to her is no disgrace for anyone anyway, even if it's disappointing for Venus fans.

i also agree! the thread starters lack of tennis is evident, he/she is not familiar with how dangerous an opponent sylvia can be. it may be true that venus would have had the edge since she has always beaten her, but you can never count sylvia out. every year she'll have a couple of really good wins.

Whatever, I know that SFE is a good player I saw her against Sharapova in OZ and she was playing very well.

However everybody knows (altough a lot of people won't admit it) that SFE can't touch Venus when she's healthy their H2H prove that.

But then again Venus shouldn't have played at all being injured. Tennisjunky I don't understand how you can call this a good win when she beat a injured player who practically handed her the win and even then she was struggling to close it out.

"It would normally have been a quick match," said Williams, who made 66 unforced errors.

"She really doesn't have the weapons to hurt me. The blister was really a factor. I just couldn't serve well and I just couldn't keep the balls in. When I looked up at the speedometer, it said 120 kph. And I said, 'Jeez what am I doing here?' So that was the humor of it out there for me."

I guess Venus agrees. Although I don't.

Silvia is not a pushover at all so it's not like she lost to....Pam Shriver or something.

Sorry, but I think Venus has a legitimate excuse for this loss. I've played with blisters before also, and it's hard to even keep your hand on the racquet, nevermind adding to that with a persistent abdominal injury.

although i think the thread starter is a bit of a knob, he/she did say she played poorly so it's kind of different than an inform silvia, who indeed is a very dangerous player to anyone. the stats didn't look very positive for either player

Venus always has an excuse for her losses, so it's no surprise.

Congrats Silvia.
