MEDIA AWARDS: The following awards are voted on by members of the media that cover the game of tennis. The winners in each category will be announced in Miami.


Lindsay Davenport - (63-9) Finished season at No.1 in World for third time in career after capturing seven titles, including Tokyo [Pan Pacific] and San Diego

Justine Henin-Hardenne - (35-4) Won four tournaments including Australian Open and Indian Wells, along with capturing Gold Medal at Athens Olympic Games.

Svetlana Kuznetsova (60-23) Breakthrough season on Tour included 60 wins and three titles, including first Grand Slam title at US Open

Anastasia Myskina (55-18) Won three tournaments during season, including Roland Garros and Moscow

Maria Sharapova (55-15) Five tournament titles in 2004, including first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon and capturing year-end WTA Tour Championships


Virginia Ruano Pascual & Paola Suarez (60-12) Dominating Grand Slam play with titles at Australian Open, Roland Garros and US Open

Cara Black & Rennae Stubbs (40-13) Won six titles during season, including Wimbledon, Tokyo [Pan Pacific], San Diego and Zurich

Nadia Petrova & Meghann Shaughnessy (38-7) First season as team produced seven titles, including WTA Tour Championships, Miami, Berlin and Rome

Elena Likhovtseva & Svetlana Kuznetsova (44-13) Russian tandem win two titles during season and finish as runner-up at three of four Grand Slam events


Svetlana Kuznetsova - Went from Top 40 player in 2003 to fixture in the Top 10 and Grand Slam champion by the end of 2004

Alicia Molik - Impressive second half of season included two titles and bronze medal at Athens Olympic Games

Maria Sharapova - Finished season at No.4 in World after capturing five titles, including Wimbledon and WTA Tour Championships

Karolina Sprem - Consistent play throughout season helped improve year-end ranking from No.59 in 2003 to No.18 in 2004


Tatiana Golovin - Began 2004 season ranked No.345 in World before finishing year in Top 30

Jelena Jankovic - Improved ranking by almost 60 places during 2004 after breakthrough year that included first title at Budapest

Nicole Vaidisova - Fifteen-year-old won two titles (Vancouver, Tashkent) in first season on Tour


Serena Williams - Returned from 2003 knee surgery to win two titles (Miami, Beijing) and reach three other finals

Venus Williams - After abdominal injury ended 2003 season, returned in 2004 to win 44 matches, including titles at Charleston and Warsaw

Anne Kremer - Recovered from 2003 wrist surgery to finish in Top 100 for sixth time in career

PLAYER AWARDS: Throughout the years, the players on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour have also participated in helping to select four very important awards. The following awards will be announced in Miami.
