Exclamation Will Amelie Mauresmo be another Pam Shriver?

Firstly, let me just say that I like Amelie and really wish she wins a slam especially the French Open which is what she wants.

BUT...

There are similarities between her and Pam.

- Both reach their first slams as teenagers and it was a huge surprise.

- Both lost that slam final to a heavily favorite reigning queen of tennis in straight sets.

- After that, everyone thought they're going to have such great careers and win many slams.

- It never happened.

The difference is...

Amelie is having a far better singles career than Pam ever did, by reaching #1 etc...

But Pam had a better doubles career. And also, in Pam's days she was unlucky to have been in the same era as Evert and Navratilova. One or both were at their best in every slam. That's rare, these days. So Amelie really doesn't have that excuse.

I wish Amelie luck but it has been OVER 6 years since...

Divas: Seles, Sharapova, Muguruza
Pas de Quatre:
Swan Lake, Giselle, The Nutcracker, Coppélia

Another similarity: Amelie is unlucky to be in the same era as Graf, Hingis, Davenpork, the Williams Hell sisters, Maria Sharapova, and the Belgian team.

It's a valid question and the similarities are there. I hope she does win that Slam title. It would be a shame if she didn't.

FUCK YOU, SEWTA.

She has more similiarities with Sabatini than anyone else. Mauresmo will finally win her slam. Pam Shriver's problem is she choked but really she didn't have the game to play with the big girls in and out. So she let Navritilova take her to the tennis hall of fame with the doubles. Mauresmo has the game to win a slam. She's going to get a slam where everyone else folds around her and she's the only one left standing. It happened to Novotna one year. I think it could happen to Mauresmo as well.

the thing is you never can predict with Amelie. Her fantastik games change by absolutely unnormal folse. Fear is the most weaked opponent.

Amelie! All the best Luck!

If you want to reborn, let yourself die.
If you want to be given everything, give everything up.

Well Amelie is a superior singles player to Pam but Pam never had such an open opportunity to win a singles slam as Amelie did in 2004. Pam never had a year where Navratilova, Austin, Evert and Mandlikova, even Graf had all been knocked out or not participated in a slam event leaving the door open for her to take the title. In the last three slams of 2004 Amelie had a golden opportunity to pick up a slam title - the big names ( i.e both Williams sisters, Davenport, Henin, Clijsters even Capriati ) were either not present, knocked out for her or rusty as fuck and she still couldn't do it.

Not saying that Amelie will never win that slam title but 2004 was a golden opportunity.

I'll start making parallels when Amélie starts to resemble a giraffe, or at least an okapi.

Yeah, Pam had an amazing doubles career- but then again, not everyone was lucky enough to have Martina as a partner. And the early part of their careers were similar, but Amélie's been a much better singles performer through the middle part of it. And I still think she'll win a Slam.

And there's only room for one Pam in the commentating box. Those extra-high ceilings aren't cheap.

Well, I walk into the room
Passing out hundred dollar bills
And it kills and it thrills like the horns on my Silverado grill
And I buy the bar a double round of crown
And everybody's getting down
And this town ain't never gonna be the same.
Cause I saddle up my horse and I ride into the city
I make a lot of noise
Cause the girls, they are so pretty...

All
ez Amélie!

Every year, Amelie plays better and better.

She's still got plenty of time.

Amelie can't match Pam's hair either, its far too smooth and glossy.

RIP Bally - You will be sorely missed

...

Against which "reigning queen" did Amelie lose?
