Golden Set?

Have any of the current players had or come close to a Golden Set?

Steffi Graf nearly had a Golden Set once, but at 4-0 in the first set, she lost two points to her opponent. She didn't lose another point in that set before or after that. I don't remember the name of the opponent but I do recall that it was played on a hardcourt in the US sometime in the late 80's. I remember reading that an interviewer pointed out to Steffi that she was 2 points away from a Golden Set. Steffi herself was not aware of that until she was told. I'm quite sure this happened, but it was so long ago that the details are sketchy to me now. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful than that.

I can't imagine so... that would require not making a single error...

Why is it that the world never remembered the name of Johann Gambolputty de von Ausfern-

that's too humiliating.
let's not post golden sets, it's worse than losing double bagels all year.
god
i'd hate myself if i would lose that way...
i always want to think that even if i were to play federer i could somehow get at least one point.

if you have nothing important to say, please do so in non-tennis forum. if you have something you think is important, but is actually rubbish regarding anything other than tennis - please do so in the non-tennis forum. if you have something tennis related to say, but it's actually "OMG, X player is so h0t!1" or "who has the biggest boobs on the wtatour" please do so in menstennisforum, under "wta forum". if you have something important, tennis-related and interesting to say please do so. No one in the world can understand how much tennis means to someone, except another fan.

Justine against Conchita in Filderstadt (I think) lost only 4 points in the 1st set!

hey hey hey I was sure some Willy fan was gonna come in and mention one of the sisters' dominating sets. Losing four points is no close to a golden set, sorry mate.

Golden sets are not all that common but I'm sure the statisticians of the board can name 10 (or so) times in the past year that a player has lost only 4 or 5 points in a set. It's amazing on some levels but if your opponent is having a bad and is just handing it to you, it's not that impressive.
