Mauresmo's schedule

So Amelie, she of the fragile physique is playing three weeks in a row? What is her schedule like in the coming weeks, considering there are two tier 1s back to back?

I would think someone who's body is so prone to breaking down would pace herself out, particularly if she wants to make an assault on the majors?

Oh well

She has this week in Doha, then Dubai, then Indian Wells. It is a tough schedule for her - non stop! A lot of travel as well! I often wonder how these players deal with jet-lag!!!

No Dubai.
Players are used to deal with jet-lag just like anyone who travels a lot for work

Yeah I just saw on the WTA site that she's not playing in Dubai. Just as well...she needs a break. I can relate to too much flying and travel! I do it alot for my job. But I only travel cross-country, not intercontinental over 5 time zones! I'm beat just flying from Vegas to NYC, I can imagine what it's like flying every single week like that!

She may not be playing Dubai, but she is playing Indian Wells AND Miami for sure. And then what? The same schedule as last year with four events before the French Open (Amelia Island, Warsaw, Berlin, Rome)? I think it's absolutely ridiculous. She's playing so much to get the #1 ranking and will go the way of Martina Hingis, Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin-Hardenne, out with a long-term injury as a result of not taking much-needed breaks. Nor will she have anything left physically to do anything at the French.
The way things are going, she won't take a significant break until after Wimbledon. WAKE UP MOMO!

She hasn't decided about Amelia Island yet. She's likely to skip Warsaw.
Let's see what she decides before screaming wake up calls at her, ok?

People seems to exagerate a little bit. She plays only 4 max matchs a week and even less during the next 2 TiersI and she starts playing on wednesday or even thursday...That's not so much provided she does not exercise too much between official match. I guess that is the most important point: overtraining!
And I suspect that is what were doing the girls people are talking about in that thread.

When you are playing tournaments, regardless of whether its only four matches to the final week, there is still practice sesions, and physical training. On top of that, there is the intensity of playing matches, and the psychology involved in the games that result in the body and mind being under more pressure than normal times when there is no tournament that is going on.

Amelie has to decide what is important. Being #1 for a brief spell or winning majors. If she wins big the ranking will follow, but I have noted that she talks about the ranking, her desire to get there.

With such a fragile physique, her body will not hold through the majors, and after a while that starts being a very lame excuse.

She will never win a major at the way she is going.

The miami and IW are that much tougher in terms of weeks. To win she would have to play 6 matches which is like 3 matches a week. 12 matches in 4 weeks.
she actually would be playing more in the tier 2s if she played them back to back.

Rena- a tennis great! 22 at striking distance.

Very good points.
She's about to skip Amelia Island and Charleston because these tournaments are on green clay which a slightly different than red. Berlin and Rome are a good preparation for her on her route to RG since both tournaments are played on red clay. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe even Fed Cup will be played on red clay.

It's a nice place indeed but Dubai tournament is played on hardcourt which is the hardest surface for anyone's body so I just don't see any sense that she'd play in there this year knowing that Doha, IW and Miami are played on hardcourt.
