I agree that we should not put so much weight on the exhibition match as if the win had happened in a tour event, but a win against the #2 player in the world is still significant and a good sign for Anna. I also was at the match and although Jen looked a little sloppy, I thought that Anna actually played wel, keeping her UE's down and only double faulting once. The line calls were bad, but still a nice result that I am sure Anna feels good about.
Here's their head to head if anyone is interested in regular tour events:
Jennifer CAPRIATI (USA) v Anna KOURNIKOVA (RUS)

1999 Amelia Island Clay (O) 32 Anna KOURNIKOVA 3-6 3-6
2000 Sydney Hard (O) 16 Anna KOURNIKOVA 4-6 5-7
2000 Zurich Hard (I) QF Jennifer CAPRIATI 7-6(4) 6-4
2000 W.T.A. Tour Championships Carpet (I) 16 Anna KOURNIKOVA 4-6 4-6

Anna KOURNIKOVA (RUS) leads 3 : 1
Interesting that all matches were straight sets, as was Anna's win in the exhibition. I can't wait to see Anna's results in Auckland and I hope that she does really well! Even if she doesn't win the title, I think a semi-final or even final result would be great!!! GO ANNA!!!!!
