Post What did Justine say about Kim winning sportswoman of the year?

I saw this on another site and was wondering what she said.

Any help would be appreciated.

I didn't see an article, it was on a poll, and one of the poll answers made me wonder what she said.

she was hoping that Grand Slam results would be more important then ranking. That was clearly not the case, and she was very very disappointed. She said a few things against the press but then disappeared very soon.

or was that for one of those other thousands awards

well, i should have thought justine more deserving actually. This really was her breakthrough year while we've been hearing about kim for ages.

A single flow'r he sent me, since we met./All tenderly his messenger he chose;
Deep-hearted, pure, with scented dew still wet - One perfect rose.
I knew the language of the floweret;/'My fragile leaves,' it said, 'his heart enclose.'
Love long has taken for his amulet/One perfect rose.
Why is it no one ever sent me yet/One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
Ah no, it's always just my luck to get/One perfect rose.

Well Kim & Justine both made their début in 1999. So I wouldn't call it "ages"
Yeah, but it was always Kim in the big picture. But I think Kim deserves this title, more than 2 years ago imo.

Kim does seem to be more popular in Belgium than Justine. I expect Justine will get it next year, though.

Of course Justine would be disappointed!!! Conversely, if Justine had won and not Kim, I would thoroughly expect Kim to be disappointed to cause she had an excellent year also.

I don't think it's something that Justine should get herself too het up over though. It was always going to be close-run thing.

Congrats to Kim though.

Kim has a 4th rd, Final, and two QF showings.

Justine has two 4th rd, a SF and a Final.

They both have GS records of 17-4.

It's the same problem every year. In this case it's two tennis players against eachother, but very often it's tennis vs. judo or some other sport. One of our judocas became World Champion for the second time in her career (first time was about 8 years ago), after getting over so many injuries. She broke her neck once, you could hear the crack the moment she fell. No one had thought she'd be able to compete again, but she did. Then she dropped a knife on her toes, right before the Olympics.
It's hard to tell who accomplished the most. Kim has now won for the third year in a row. Judo people see it as an insult that being 20th in tennis is considered better than being 1st in judo. It's always such a tough decision to make, it's hard to make out a clear winner.

Everything you do continues long after you've gone

I thought Justine's life sucked. That sounds absolutely horrible. Very bad. Reminds me of that German figure skater (whose last time I can't spell) who had that rare but life-threatening disease and then got the flu at Nagano. (She also had that practice collision with Baiul in Lillehammer.)

I guess it's mostly timing that decided this award. Kim ended up No5 at the end of the year, posted better latter half results and was the first Belgian to reach a Slam final. Kim's titles were also "better."

I hope this disappointment for Justine will fuel her to win a Slam next year.

Congrats to Kim nonetheless!

I browse once in a while.
