the seles era was when i first started watching tennis, and if it hadn't been for her unorthodox domination, i may not have been interested. if it wasn't for seles, jim curier, agassi, pete, and sabatini, i would have never continued watching.

i also enjoyed 99/00/01/02 immensely

BTW I tried to put the most dominant players in each year, sometimes it was tough to put only 4!! Sorry about that

Mine is the 1999-2000 period

Tennis was always best when Hingis, Davenport, and the Williams' were at the top of the game in like 1999-2000. Great drama and rivalries. Tennis hasn't been the same since.

Didn't Steffi win 3 out of the 4 matches she played against Monica 1991-92, losing ONLY the French '92 final?

do you call rivals Pierce&ASV& Martinez to Graf??????

ASV & Martinez rivals to Graf?

as far the best joke of the year......

Graf had the weakest "rivals" of the century.... they don't even deserve the title of "rivals"

2001 was a very good year for the tour IMO. Jen's fairytale comeback, Venus dominating the last two slams, especially the USO. Lindsay's hot streak, USO QF - Lindsay and Serena, FO final, Jen's QF + SF @ wimby, Martina's run to the AO final, Seles playing great in the summer

Women's tennis sucks.

Go Rafa.

Hingis, Davenport Venus and Serena....changing of the guard.

ALL there matches were awesome...
rember 200 USOPen, Martina and Lindsay vowed to one another that thye owuld not let there be an all-wiliams final, at all costs.

It was a great rivalry that i miss and didnt acutally get to see much of..but great stuff.

Williams sisters ruled all their rivalries!!! Go Williams!!!

I liked the emergence of the Belgiums who won almost everything to the emergence of the Russians who won almost everything.

I can't break it dwon that way. it's more like which sets of two-player rivalries?

Venus-Martina
Serena-Justine
Serena-Jenn
Lindsay-Martina
Venus-Kim

Those are all matchups I always expected to produce a great match.

Serena-Amelie is actually usually good recently. Mauresmo really had no physical chance yesterday.

Proud to be an American
Not blind. Not uninformed. We are party to atrocities. But the response of the world after 9/11 is worth noting. Even our most dire enemies offered aid. We should all be so lucky.
