Taking game-points isn't one of them.

She does have a nice game and those rowdy chinese sure are making it hard to enjoy the match.

Ya...right now I would say she is a Monica minus 20% maybe. She can learn to dominate players ranked outside the top 20. Still, has some holes that need to be fixed.

That running forehand does look like Sharapova's.

One thing I noticed is that she seems to be hitting late alot. Venus' pace, maybe?

She needs to learn on her second short right after the serve...although that might be the bad serve plus the Venus return.

She's trains in Florida right, maybe picked up something being
near Capriati perhaps? That was so obnoxious asking for
that game from the chair umpire!

She actually had an argument there, but the ump stuck to his guns. It's a judgment call.

if only the court was 3 inches wider and she didn't know what the score was in her head... hopefully she plays the big points better next set. when she gets a game point on her serve, she needs to put more than one ball in play. my goodness.

she reminds me of monica, maria, and anna k. that's some damn good company in my book.

she needs obvious work on her serve but also with a few minor other things.

i thought for sure they were going to replay the point...
o well, it is a judgment call and it probably didn't make a huge difference because venus DID hit a very good shot, and probably would have won the point even if the linesperson wouldn't have miscalled.

Either the coaching genius that is Oracene has told Venus to hack away at that forehand until it starts to work, or Venus isnt very smart on the court!
How many forehands has she smacked into the net with an open court?
Jeez wouldnt just a smidgen of topspin for clearance be better than going for a screaming error into the net?

True..it's just something interesting. I've never seen a lower
ranked player at a GS say something like that to win the second
game of the 1st set against a star/diva/champ.
