Sydney Duel: (2) Nastya vs. (Q) Shuai

A very interesting 2nd round match in Sydney between Myskina and Peng. Both ladies are undefeated so far in 2005 but one of the streaks will come to an end.

MYSKINA PENG
3 WTA Ranking 80
July 8, 1981 (23) Birthdate (Age) January 8, 1986 (19)
Moscow, Russia Birthplace Hunan, China
Moscow, Russia Residence Boca Raton, Florida, USA
5'8 1/2'' (1.74 m) Height 5'8" (1.73 m)
130 1/2 lbs. (59 kg) Weight 135 lbs. (61.2 kg)

2005 Results:

Myskina

def. Gronefeld 6-3, 6-3
def. Dulko 6-2, 6-1
def. Schiavone 6-3, 6-2

Peng

def. Pin 6-4, 6-1
def. Obziler 6-4, 6-0
def. Chaladkova 6-1, 6-2
def. Washington 6-4, 6-2

Obviously Nasty is favored but Peng is playing well so far in 2005. Myskina also probably dosen't want to be at Sydney anymore after voicing her injury concerns today so if this match is not going her way, she may just tank it.

Shuai hits easily as hard if not harder shot per shot with Myskina...this could be great match!

Go Ai, Venus, Na, Tamarine!

Nasty will be "shuai-peng" her under the carpet

If Myskina is to live up to being #3 the world its players like this she has to empthatically destroy.

a scoreline of 7-5 7-5 would not be something that would signal good form.

Queen Vee, Super Rena, Krazy Kuzzie

If Myskina plays anything like she did against Francessca at the hopman cup she will win 6-2 6-1. Her shots are very flat and hard.... I am shure Peng will like it.... but Myskina will probably be too good.

I'd bet one of my Emmies on Myskina

Will be interesting to see Peng play, reducing the small no of players in the top #100 whom I haven't seen yet.
