Where is Maria Jose Martinez?

I was scanning through the ITF files, and looking at Cindy Watsons 2002 results. As you all know, she reached the third round that year, and took out Spain's Maria Jose Martinez. It's tough seeing players who are successful early on in their careers, fall on harder times as they continue playing the tour. (Pizzichini, Bedanova, Fernandez, etc) As I look at her results, they were pretty good, especially in 2001, where she beat Schett, Testud, Grande...and I think she was on the list of Orange Bowl winners, when I looked at that a few days ago. What's up with her now? She is only 23 I believe; has she retired?

I think she officially retired about a year or two ago...Roumors say that she was pregnant.

she got pregnant one year ago, but sadly she lost it (her baby)
Fortunately she's playing tennis again.

Now that you mention it, I now remember that it was MJM who lost her baby...and the gossip flew...

Was it really an abortion?
