Top 22 players - Ranked by career singles wins

rk: rank
#s: Number of career singles wins
(##): Age

...... (----) : biggest tournament win

The sheer size of Lindsay's lead in career songles wins is surprising. Especially considering she's the same age as Jenn. Lindsay actually has a chance of overtaking Monica in career singles wins. She'd probably have to play into 2006 to do that though.

Same list, but with some of the best of the open era thrown in. The absence of Court and King has to do with the large amount of the careers in the pre-Open era. Obviously, they'd both be WAY up this list

-- 195 (rt) Court
-- 167 (rt) Navratilova
-- 154 (rt) Evert
-- 107 (rt) Graf
--: 71 (rt) King (May not include all of pre-Open era)
--: 68 (rt) Goolagong
--: 53 (31) Seles ........... (GS)

01: 45 (28) Davenport ....... (GS)
--: 40 (rt) Hingis
--: 32 (32) Martinez
02: 31 (24) Williams, V ..... (GS)
--: 30 (rt) Austin
--: 29 (rt) Sanchez-Vicario
--: 27 (rt) Mandlikova
--: 27 (rt) Sabatini
03: 25 (23) Williams, S ..... (GS)
--: 24 (rt) Novotna
04: 21 (21) Clijsters ....... (YEC)
05: 19 (22) Henin-Hardenne .. (GS)
--: 16 (29) Pierce .......... (GS)

BJK won over 100 titles in her combined amateur-professional careers, as did Ann Jones Evonne's total is over 90 but for some reason, the WTA guide only credits her with 68.
Other women whose careers spanned the amateur and professional eras and who have won over 50 titles include: Maria Bueno (>60) Nancy Richey-Gunter (>65) Virginia Wade (>69). Lesley Turner won at least 48.

WTA only has the open era totals.

Didn't really forget her. But I started out just doing the current players down to Clijsters, then added Monica and retired players. Pierce doesn't fall into those categories.

If Lindsay ends this year with 50+ titles, does anyone think she'll hang around to pass Monica? That isn't really Lindsay's personality. The only reason I'd see her playing past this year is if she makes 2+ GS finals and loses them all. She really seems to want another GS win.

Why Sharapova is first????

The list for modern day players is old. Davenport has 47 wins, Kim has 27 etc.. I am glad we have a record of all of Court^s wins as there was no women^s pro tour before open tennis. I do think the King count is incomplete.

Are the ages as of the beginning of 2005? Kim and Lindsay are 22 and 29 respectively as of 8th June this year.
