Who had the best win of 2004?

WIMBLEDON, Final (Wimbledon, England): Maria Sharapova (RUS) d. Serena Williams (USA), 61 64

Only once had a player seeded outside the Top 8 previously reached the Wimbledon Ladiesí Singles final in the Open Era. That was No.16 Nathalie Tauziat, who fell to Jana Novotna in the 1998 championship match. Taking on top seed and two-time defending champion Serena Williams in the final, clearly the odds were stacked against No.13 seed Sharapova.

This is my pick for best win in 2004.
What was yours?

I also voted for Sharapova d. S. Williams, Wimbledon Finals. Simply because the match was not only an amazing display of Sharapova's ability, but it also set in motion the true power of Sharapova, and really set her head and shoulders above much of the competition. Sharapova winning that match capped off a near-flawless tournament.

Lindsay beating Venus in Stanford, it was a big turning point for her i think. AFter that she went and started dominating the sistas.

Well, the best win for my favorite player was when Serena d. Capriati 6-1, 6-1 at Wimbledon and when Serena d. Sveta at Beijing.

But the best win of the year has to be Sharapova over Serena at Wimbledon this year.
