Breakthrough veteran of 2005?

Please name the breakthrough veteran of 2005.

In 2004, we had Frazier who again proved she is not too old for top class tennis and Davenport who again regained the number 1 spot.

I am banking on Emilie Loit, Amanda Janes and Els Callens having good 2005 seasons.

The fruit series is suspended whilst Grachka (obatafan) mourns Saori's retirement.

Saori Obata

Born : April 23rd 1978
Age: 28
Residence: Tokyo, Japan
Height: 5' 5" (1.65m)
Weight: 132 lbs. (60 kg)
Plays: Left handed
Career Prize Money: $652,031
Highest Singles Ranking: 39 (Feb 9th 04')

ITF Titles: Augusta (2005), Gifu (2005), Fukuoka (2003), Port Pirie (2001), Jakarta (1996).
WTA:
Finalist (1): 2003 - Tashkent.
Semifinalist (1): 2003 - Bali.
Quarterfinalist (6): 2004 - Birmingham; 2003 - Memphis, Pattaya City; 2002 - Bali; 2001 - Tokyo [Japan Open]; 2000 - Shanghai.

It would be really nice if we'd see Els Callens having a great season again! Although it's good that she finally started to play itf tournaments after the US Open, I guess that way she can easier collect ranking points. A few itf semi finals are beter imo than all those first round losses, or qualifying losses.

Els is going on 35 next season
as for which old-fogey is reborn is anyone's guess.

Vets can be alot younger than 28/29........ it dont depend on age but time spent on tour

I think that Anne Kremer will make a big comeback as will Tatiana Panova. They are both just getting back to were they were before they were injured and I hope to see them back in the thirty before Wimbledon.

Yea Tatiana zoomed through qualifying draws earlier this year and brought herself back to the top 100 .. same for Anne .. but Anne has been playing ITFs top get it back but Tati went mostly through regular tournaments .. Anne has been losing to bad players though and beating the tough ones

fuck.

Billie Jean King is making a comeback. I bet she wins Wimbledon this year...

There is nothing more beautiful than Evonne Goolagong in full flight moving across a tennis court.

Yes, and that makes Jennifer a veteran. She is capable of a great year.

I'm hoping Martina wins a major doubles title this year - if not several!
