Russians hail Sharapova

An article called "Russians hail Sharapova" can be found at www.gulf-daily-news.com/story.asp?Article=96829&Sn=SPOR&IssueID=27243

Even though Maria is an Americanized Russian she is gaining respect and admiration in the Motherland for her accomplishments in tennis.

Happiness is like a cat. If you try to coax it or call it, it will avoid you. It will never come. But if you pay no attention to it and go about your business, you'll find it rubbing up against your legs and jumping into your lap. - William Bennett

Myskina has sour grapes

Come on Myskina, give Sharapova a break. She beat you fair and square and Serena too, twice!!

You make a good point Alex. Masha is treated great by the Russian media and that has to really irk Myskina and Dmentieva especially since Masha apparently rarely visits Russia and has never even played the Ladies Kremlin Cup in Moscow. In a way i can understand their frustration. But the Russian emdia treats Sharapova like she's one of their own. Da.

Is that the young lady who won Wimbledon, and has a Monica Seles laugh?

I know Dementieva is indifferent toward Maria, but I thought Myskina was actually a friend of Maria?

Well, I certainly hope she was wearing protection. Here in America, if you go outside in the hail, you can really bruise your head...

There is nothing more beautiful than Evonne Goolagong in full flight moving across a tennis court.

Why do you feel the need to rag on Sharapova at every opportunity? Your attempt to disguise it with humour isn’t paying dividends.

Yes that's her, Crossing.

Jakeev, I thought Myskina and Sharapova were friends too. And maybe they are. But I have a feeling that Masha has encroached on Myskina's Russina #1 status since Wimbledon and that's why Myskina has possibly given Masha the cold shoulder.

He tries in vain, to present himself as ‘I’m everybody’s friend, there’s no one more a free spirit than I’. He’s just a self obsessed Steffi fan, who is still disgruntled that Monica had her number. And now more so because Maria has Serena‘s.
